Metal Slug Anthology Review.
Created: 05/03/07
This game is for anyone who likes the arcades or the series in general! The Wii version of Metal slug has some flaws though, for one is the controller set up they could have added the classic controller support and on some of the controller set ups there not to well that well configured the best ones to choose are the Nunchuck and Wii remote or just the Game Cube controller, but you might like the other setups as well you have to try them out other than that this game is great for the old school players!

Classic Metal Slug, What's Not To Like?!

The Wii version of Metal Slug Anthology is great. If you were one of the fans who enjoyed playing the coin op versions in the arcade you will surely enjoy the Wii version. Playing with the Wii controller is interesting, but slightly annoying if you want to throw grenades as you must frantically shake the controller in order for you to throw a grenade. I preferred using the Game Cube controller as it gave the game play a slightly more classic feel. The graphics look good on the Wii version, just like you remember in the arcades tiny bits of blood and all.
Since the disc has all the Metal Slug games to date there should be plenty to keep you busy for a few days. It probably won't take you long to beat them all, but as a bonus there is a section you use points from playing the games to unlock various art and story boards. Fans of Metal Slug will want to buy the game right away, those new to the series will likely get by on a rental.

You get 7 games in one. All old school classic side scrolling action. Fun to be had no matter which one you play. I have this game(s) for the PSP and the load times between segments of a level (not just the levels themselves) is hard to enjoy. This version is the best (next to the original carts that is) and feels good to play with either the wii remote or classic controller (gamecube supported as well).
I have a neogeo CD and sad to say, not even the likes of Metal slug 4, 5 or 6 was made for it. This collection represents the finest the arcade/home neogeo was able to produce. At a low low price to make it part of any person's collection. Go figure...I paid upwards of $60 ea for the ones that were available on the neogeo CD.

Metal Slug Anthology

I bought Metal Slug Anthology thinking I'd get hours of fun, run and gun game play...and I was right. Metal Slug Anthology is exactly what is sounds like, a compilation of seven Metal Slug games combined into a single disk. For those who don't know, Metal Slug is an arcade game where the player takes the role of a soldier in a fun side scrolling adventure with lots of action. The player can also enter vehicles and cause even more mayhem. The arcade graphics are top notch and the games play terrifically (though I only used the Gamecube remote control scheme). Overall a very good game.

I've always loved the Metal Slug games, and it remains one of my favorite series ever. I want so badly to give this a 10, but the control schemes they give you to choose from are HORRIBLE.
Every control scheme requires a flick of the controller to use the grenade, and the only one that doesn't (GCN controller) only lets you use the analog stick, not the D-pad. Not only this, but the whole presentation feels like it was just thrown together. Only get it if you can get a decent arcade stick that will work with the game, which reminds me, I should find one.
