Product description

Synopsis
Steinbeck tells the classic story of three days in the lives of two migrant workers, Lennie Small and George Milton. Lennie, a simple-minded giant who doesn't know his own strength, wants only to settle down with his friend on a small farm where he will be allowed to feed the animals. When he inadvertently kills first a puppy, then a woman--the wife of the brutal ranch owner where Lennie and George find work--George kills him, in a humane act of love, before the unfortunate Lennie is hounded to his death. Steinbeck's sympathy for the plight of the downtrodden--and especially for exploited migrant workers like Lennie and George--is powerfully expressed in this novel.

I love the book. It describes it's characters so lifelike just like in the movie "of mice and men." The book is about 2 men during the end of the depression whom just lost a job because his best friend has like alzheimer's and forget's or does things without thinking. They get a new job but in the end, Lennie the mental one is shot by George because for another incident, he was going to be killed...Overall a good short book by Steinbeck. Its only 110 pages....

A touching book. It's short. Portrays characters well

The 2 main characters where great. Especially how the go on their adventure to find their "dream farm". Back in the old times (I believe the book took place in California), when blacks where treated unfairly, and "handicapped" people were looked down upon, one man (Lenny) takes care of this "handicapped" (George) bonding an unforgettable friendship. The ending is a little sad, but still a great book to read. The only reaon i gave it four stars, was because it just insnt my kind of interest, but because i thought it was much better than i anticipated, and actually has some very good parts, i would defnately give it 4 stars.
P.S. i belive it takes place during the dust bowl in California, but havent read the book in a long time.

This book tells of the hopes and tragedies of every man, though the ending is not what we hoped it is fitting. The story is gripping from beginning to end and is among the best Steinbeck ever wrote. side note - the remake of the movie was a classic, but to really feel the story try and find the original version starring Burgess Meredith and Lon Chaney Jr.

Just what I ordered!!

Created: 17/12/10
I'm using this as a student copy of the the novel in my classroom. Great book that depicts a strange but caring relationship between a hard working man in the grasp of an era of poverty for many such men and a severely retarded man whose strength and kindness are his down fall. A chance to explore the consequences of actions from a viewpoint that may never be experienced in our own lives. Language and subject matter is not for the very young, but appropriate for the realistic needs of the author.

Of Mice and Men John Steinbeck

This was a very good book. It is not that long and is a pretty easy read. The two main characters are Geogre and Lennie. The two work on a ranch and you meet some of the characters. Lennie who loves animals and it side tracks him. Lennie doesn't think before he does something and this gets him in trouble throughout the book. The book is a must read. I don't want to give to many details away because you should read the book. I think you should buy it and can get it for a reasonable price on Ebay.
