    Publisher's Note
In 2000–2001, Michael Jackson sat down with his close friend and spiritual guide, Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, to record what turned out to be the most intimate and revealing conversations of his life. It was Michael’s wish to bare his soul and unburden himself to a public that he knew was deeply suspicious of him. The resulting thirty hours are the basis of The Michael Jackson Tapes. There has never been, and never will be, anything like them.

In these searingly honest conversations, Michael exposes his emotional pain and profound loneliness, his longing to be loved, and the emptiness of his fame. You discover why he was suspicious of women and how only children provided the innocence for which he so desperately longed.

In his own words, he takes us into the jarring moments of his childhood and speaks of the measures he took to try and heal. He divulges how he came to be alienated from his strong religious anchor and describes his views on the nature of faith. Michael brings us into his tortured yet loving relationship with his siblings. He opens up about his father and his yearning for a time when they might finally reconcile. He talks about his most personal friendships and shares with us his terror of growing old.

Despite his unprecedented fame and recent death, there remain unanswered questions about his life. The answers, presented here in The Michael Jackson Tapes, will both intrigue and move you. You will be surprised, riveted, and troubled as you peer into the soul of a tragic icon whose life is an American morality tale and whose flame was extinguished much too early.

    Industry Reviews
"THE MICHAEL JACKSON TAPES...isn't entirely devoid of merit. There's a heartbreaking passage where Jackson wistfully recalls the only nice thing his father ever did for him as a boy...and the portions dealing with Jackson's childhood are predictably poignant. It's easy to feel sympathy for the sweet, sad, vulnerable lost boy Jackson once was, even as we cringe at what he ultimately became. But TAPES is ultimately the worst kind of posthumous cash-in from a rabbi who accomplishes the seemingly impossible feat of being creepier than Michael Jackson."

    A great title

I believe Rabbi Schmuley did a very nice job presenting a side of Michael Jackson that many of us never got to know. I orginally bought the book to read about Michael Jackson, but soon found out there was more in the book than I expected. I also found the book with great in sights into religion in general and the way of the world. I will be purchasing some of his other books due to this great insight into the world.

    Not Enough!

    Created: 15/11/09
The book is the MJ conversations mixed with Rabbi Shmuley's opinionated paragraphs. He throws his bias on it, but I don't get an overpowering feeling that he wanted to lie about Michael. Still, there are some believable things and some surprising things about Michael in this book. MJ was human and this book (if true) shows that he wasn't perfect. It's an interesting look into his life and personality.

Most MJ fans are used to being skeptical, questioning authors' motives, and double checking their resources. Rabbi Shmuley needs to release ALL the audio on a CD set to give fans the proof they need that what is said in the book is what Michael said--and meant! Puncuation can really change the way something is read and the only way to know is by hearing Michael say it. And we can only hope that no one would alter the audio.

    Amazing book

awesome book worth the read..What a wonderful look into a precious life. You learn things about a man who had a huge heart. Wanted to be loved and have friends, which was so hard to find.So many people wanted to be around him for money or fame. That the human being was lost. He basically became a flashing light thatdrew attention for all the wrong reasonsa. He had a huge heart and wanted to give love unconditionally. His fame held him back from his dreams as much as it helped him to accomplish them.

Bringing joy to the world can also bring saddeness, The truth about Micheal

     | Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.
    Created: 10/01/12
I would say at the time of this writing and the time that Rabbi Shmuley spent with Michael is the most intimate time of Michael's life. Rabbi Shmuley witness a lost soul and tried to bring him back to center. When a child is adulated by millions and grows up wanting to have the the personal touch of a human and reaches out to find someone. Rabbi Shmuley hit it on the mark about Michael he knew what Michael had to do in order to become a child of God. It saddens me to see Michael die the way he did. It saddens me that the leeches that surrounded themselves around Michael a lost soul and see him destroy himself as human. I got a clear insight of someone who I grew up with and respected. What a waist of life.
