Great CB for Someone Starting out
Created: 13/09/10
This CB Radio is good for the price. The one I got has worked well so far. I am, however, a little inexperienced with setting the squelch and I find myself turning it like I would a volume control to set it. For the times it was set right though, it worked well. The sound through the built in speaker was clear, the mic worked and the others heard me clearly. I would advise for you to have a larger antenna than the Schosche ones at Walmart. Maybe get one from a well known company(I heard some very good things about the Wilson Antennas) I should mention, it has an SWR meter that work well.
The radio has the capability to be used for a PA system, you just need to buy the PA speaker that is compatible. It can possibly be used with Police frequencies IF you change out the crystal with the proper one. SPeking of which, it has a switch that changes it to Emergency Channel 9 instantly whoch is a nice feature they added. Although in darkdess, you might accidentally flip the "CB"-"PA" switch instead.
So far, the only bad thing I found was that the manual isn't entirely accurate. It shows the squelch knob but not the RF Gain knob, which is on the same spot. Kind of like how clock hands are, they spin on the same axle. It was easy to figure out though, just leave it all the way to the left then move it right till the sound goes out, then move it back till the sound come back and leave it set.
In closing, if you want a low cost cb radio that looks nice without paying a rediculous amount of money for a brand name and doesn't have a million buttons that require a manual, get this. It is easy to figure out and since it has almost no moving parts, I would say it is very durable. Great to have if power goes out and cell towers go down. Like during a hurricane for example.

Great little radio for the money.

This is a great little rig for the money. It has good range, loud audio output, and above average modulation. I hooked mine up to an old school "Hustler" trunk lip base loaded antenna and it has worked perfect for about two months, then the LED on the channel readout went out. I sent it back to Midland and they sent me a brand new unit, no questions asked. Other than that issue, the only other negatives are that the radio reverts to channel 9 when the 12VDC power is lost, and the channel selection knob is next to the volume instead of under the LED display which is a little confusing. Overall I would rate this radio an 8.

This is a great CB radio for the beginner. It comes with a microphone and mount, cb and mount, power cables. It has channel 9 and pa capabilities as well as many others. Small with a low profile. Good product. I havent had the chance to actually use it but I trust it will do me good.

Keep it simple

This is a very simple minded radio. Installation is straight forward, the mounting bracket allows it to sling under the dash. The downward firing speaker is perfect for underdash or overhead installs. I just set mine vertical between seats in the console. It comes with plus and minus wire so it is not necessary to ground the unit. mine was used, so i clip the wires right before the fuse and ran to a cigar type plug that i got at Walmart which has the fuse built-in and the 2 wires for easy pigtail connection.
Operation is simple too. The squelch control worked to keep noise down, much better than i expected. There is a LED to indicate when you are speaking loud enough for modulation. Channel is selected by a twist knob. This is really a retro 1970's rig but that is exactly what i wanted.

Great Radio for a Great Price
Created: 02/12/10
Pros: Small, compact and portable. Low cost. Good features: squelch, RF gain, PA, etc. I really couldn't be much happier. This products is great when new in box with all the extra mounting hardware, screws, and extra fuse, etc.
Cons: None, really. Could always be fancier, but this is a great item for the price.
