Midsomer Murders - The Early Cases (DVD, 2008, Multi-Disc Set)

If you like British Mysteries, you will love this. I got hooked watching Midsomer Murders when it was on TV. Unfortunately it is no longer on American television. But fortunately you can buy the DVDs and get your fill of this marvelous show. I don't what it is about Detective Chief Inspector Tom Barnaby, but he is addictive. The chemistry between the various characters is wonderful. This particular set includes a DVD with Orlando Bloom as a young and upcoming star. I couldn't recommend anything more than this. Great acting, beautiful scenery, and so on and so on. Just wonderful.
This set consists of 19 DVDs which includes one bonus DVD. Approximately 30 hours of entertainment.

Not cheap entertainment. Either in price or quality. As the viewer you have to pay close attention. You won't be able to keep up with the twists and turns if you have outside distractions. This is the TV viewing that sucks you in. You become apart of the sceen. You watch intently at the mystery unfolds. When it's over I'm left with a feeling of 'where have all the good American writers gone'. I love American shows from the 60s-70s and 80s. I can't take modern American shows anymore about Alien abductions and 'the beautiful people'. I now watch British shows. I get more out of them. This is first rate. There are many series to this show. Buying the Early Cases as a boxed set makes the best value. But I did find that the glue on the boxes come apart with time. Mine had to be reglued with silicone adhesive. I'm now trying to buy the later sets at prices less than Sams Club. I's hard. Many people have caught onto this series. I see why, it's excellent.

The Midsomer Murders early years is a great compendium of the initial entries in this very entertaining British mystery series. My only complaint - and a minor one - is that it does not include Set 4. I will have to buy that one soon - I have the rest of the series to date (Set 18).

I bought this set because my wife really enjoys Midsomer Murders and the show is not currently being broadcast in our area. Being able to get the early episodes was perfect because we either hadn't seen them or had watched them long enough ago that it would be fun to watch them again. The bonus features were also a big plus.

I love the Midsomer Murders series. It is different than the other series in that the murderer isn't nessecarily the most innocent-looking charecter. The scenary is gorgeous and the acting is superb. The plots are a little outlandish and the body count gets out of hand but still very entertaining.
