Mighty Joe Young (DVD, 1999)

The first and foremost thing that I love about this movie is --- Mighty Joe lives on. My grandson had seen "King Kong" and (we all know how that ended) was quite traumatized by the ending. I remembered seeing this when it came out, and thought that this movie would cheer him up. This new version is a remake of a black and white movie that came out in 1949, which my children and I enjoyed way back when.
It's still quite sad, but it has a happy ending- and the whole family can enjoy it together !

I love most movies with animals in it. I think that the drama and excitement of the movie is what I like best. You have a baby gorilla and a young girl that have both lost their mothers. They grow up with each other taking care of each other and the other animals in the jungle. They protect against poachers which is who killed their mothers.

This movie is just a plain, good story that makes you feel good. The good people win and the bad guys lose. The gorilla is quite well done and animated in this feature. It sends a good message on several levels... love, respect, sacrifice, conservation, and responsibility.
I bought this movie to add to my collection of 'good, decent, wholesome' family movies.

I love this movie because its about a bound a monkey and a little girl have when they lost both there mom's, and no one can ever break that bond its for life. there the only family they have and she'll do anything to protect him. awesome movie

This is a fun little movie especially if you are an animal lover....believe in saving all species....and are against killing animals simply for greed or for sport--food maybe but not for greed or sport. My young gr.dau and I have watched this film many times....Its good. And its a good family movie to help teach good and bad choices.
