Riveting Movie. Great Acting. Watch Million Dollar Baby
Created: 22/09/05
Riveting movie that deserves all of the praise and accolades it earned. Few movies are as complete, as well designed and written; and few movies are as well acted. Clint Eastwood, Hilary Swank and Morgan Freeman combine for an incredible performance. That's the true beauty of "Million Dollar Baby" - rather than rely on big budget explosions and graphics, it is driven by acting, by story and by emotion.
Most importantly, the film is real. The acting is so fine that it comes across naturally and the audience cant help but become emotional. Furthermore, the realism extends to the boxing and fighting sequences - rather than a Rock IV / Drago vs. Rocky fight, the sequences are superbly designed and even performed by actual boxers and prize fighters.
The movie moves in many directions - but all naturally. With worse writing or acting, the direction might feel forced; but Eastwood makes sure that everything progresses smoothly and intelligently. There is much more to say - but I would prefer to keep from spoiling the plot.
What I will say though is that there are perhaps more enjoyable films - ones you watch mindlessly and enjoy for various reasons... but there are few films that are complete or more satisfying. And there were no such films during 2004.

Good Clint Eastwood Movie
Created: 12/07/06
This is a good Clint Eastwood Movie with Hilary Swank and Morgan Freeman. It has won awards for best actress, best supporting actor and best director. It is rated PG-13 but don't think the teenagers will enjoy it. A movie about determination. Add to your Clint Eastwood collection or Hilary Swank collection or Morgan Freeman collection.

A journey for your heart, spirit and soul
Created: 13/01/06
Though a simple story about a boxer, her manager and the gym's janitor, this movie will take you places and touch you in ways you never expected. Clint as the hardened trainer takes on Swank as the tough, but poor female boxer to train her if for no reason than to be rid of her. The two grow together and you grow with them. Freeman balances the hard heart of Clint and the hard head of Swank, allowing the three of them to take you on a journey that touches your heart as the characters grow, lifts your spirits as her career moves toward the peak and makes you realize how great the power of dreams really is.
The character development and depth of the story is rewarding for whomever watches.

Worth a million dollars

This movie is hands down one of my favorite movies! The characters pull you into their lives and you become incased in their stories. Hilary Swank earned every golden inch of her Oscar on this one. I give Million Dollar Baby my highest recommendation! Also I give a slight warning...while it is a great film, it's more than likely that it will make you cry. So if you're looking for a film to cheer you up...maybe you should save this one for a different movie night.

Million Dollar Baby

I like the things Clint Eastwood does as a director. I saw Grand Torino first and liked it and then saw Million Dollar Baby. I saw similarites in both movies. Eastwood plays a hardened character in both pictures but softens towards the middle of both pictures. Hillary Swank continues to grow as an actress. She plays a young lady with a lot of heart and character. Morgan Freeman continues his narration of the story much as he did in shawshank Redemption. I was hoping for a happier ending but I suppose the ending was more realistic.
