It also explores aspects of the Sarah McLachlan phenomenon--the frank, confessional singer/songwriter style of music that has made her so popular and the excess of commercialism that irritates her detractors to no end.The performances on MIRRORBALL are dynamic and inspired, especially in the guitar work of David Sinclair and Sean Ashby. The percussion anchors things nicely, and McLachlan's voice soars over the proceedings. The track list includes fan favorites like the crossover hit "Building a Mystery," the Grammy-nominated "Aida," an insistent "Sweet Surrender" that exploits McLachlan's range to good effect, and the last track, a heartfelt version of the piano-driven "Angel," originally from the SURFACING album. MIRRORBALL, while unlikely to win her new fans, is a great document for McLachlan's legions of admirers.

3 stars out of 5 - ...Lyrically, it's impressively angst-ridden...

Good, but over hyped

Created: 19/12/08
Sarah McLachlan's singing is first rate, but there's too much of her adoring fans at the start and end of each cut. Her vocal microphone and piano is good, but the band's level is set too far back. Mirrorball is okay for her fans, but it's not that great for a live concert. For a concert CD, check out Emylou Harris's Spyboy CD.

EMOTIONAL SONG

Created: 30/04/08
In late January I saw a commercial for the ASPCA to help save abused animals, when I heard the song and saw the pictures of mistreated and badly abuses cats and dogs I realized I was crying. I am a animal lover, the next time I saw this commercial the same thing happened. The pictures were too much for me to take,I had never heard this song that was so appropriate for this commercial until now but it was haunting me. The third time it came on I could no longer look at the TV but I could still hear the song. From the lyrics I guessed it was "In the Arms of the Angels", I looked it up online and found out the Artist and the title is "Angels". I had never heard of Sarah McLachlan but I saw the Angles video "You Tube" and I had to have the CD. The song Angels has accomplished two things, I have listened to other Sarah McLachlan CDs and have become a fan. In February I joined and became a ASPCA Guardian, true animal lovers beware. The pictures in this commercial will tug at your emotions and listening to the words of Angels will haunt you and you will eventually want to hear the entire song and buy this cd as I did. Even now I still can't watch it but I can listen to Angels without crying. I bought this cd after listening to track samples online and loving them along with this was the best price offered for it, buying this cd was a win, win, win situation for me.
Thank You Sarah McLachlan!

GOOD LUCK!

Created: 05/02/08
Sarah McLachlan is great, but the CD I bought from this user is totally unusable and he sold it as NEW. So I had to go to the store and buy a new one anyway. I filed a claim and got my money back, but who wants to mess around with that? Buyer Beware, there are users out there who will lie and cheat and do whatever it takes to get your money. He had a lot of good feedback too, (over 1,000) so don't always trust that. Anyway, ask a lot of good questions before you buy or you could end up like me, very untrusting and disappointed. The CD I ended up getting at the store is a classic. If you own very FEW CD's this one is one you want to buy the whole disc is good, not just a few songs. ITS VERY HARD TO FIND NEW IN THE STORE. Good Luck. You'll be happy with your purchase if you didn't have to go through what I did.

Awesome CD & Artist!!!

Created: 12/06/08
My first Sarah Mc CD and a great addition to my collection of music. I hear something more in each song the more I listen to it. I enjoyed it so much, I ordered the Mirrorball DVD! Sarah's an amazing artist with an original voice style that will leave you breathless. Everyone that hears the CD or comes into the room while the DVD's playing literally stop and stair or ask who the artist is. Don't know how I missed out on her for the last 46 years! Highly recommended listening!
