Miss Cast Away (DVD, 2005)

WOW! It's hard to believe that a movie featuring scantily clad girls could possibly suck, but that is exactly the case for Miss Castaway! This is a grade Z- movie at it's very worst! Have things gotten so bad for Julia Roberts' brother Eric & for veteran TV actors Stuart Pankin & Charlie Sclatter(Diagnosis Murder) that they've been forced to appear in trash like this? Apparently so! How bad is this? Michael Jackson is in it!!!!!!

The premise of this "Lost" wannabe is that a plane carrying contestants for a beauty pageant crashes on a tropical isle. There they find Noah's Ark, complete with Noah, who is actually a prisoner of humanoid monkeys ala Planet of the Apes. But not before half the girls man a raft & sail out into the ocean to try to get rescued. Along the way, the remaining girls are menaced by the apes, aliens, a nuclear torpedo, Michael Jackson (who is the head of some spy network) & a huge prehistoric pig one of the girls dubs "Jurassic Pork!" It does eat one of the girls, but unfortunately for us, it doesn't wipe out the whole cast!

This film rips off so many movies it is hard to tell where to begin? Jurassic Park, Lost, Planet of the Apes, Lord of the Rings, King Kong, Indiana Jones, ET, Castaway, Close Encounters, the list goes on & on, but it does them all extremely badly!

Despite a cast sprinkled with veteran actors, the acting is awful! Roberts & Schlatter can almost be seen laughing at themselves & Pankin overplays it so badly it's ridiculous! The special effects are horrid! Except for Jurassic Pork, which it seems they blew their whole CG budget on. Every other effect is crap! The attempts at humor are even putrid! This is just a bad movie that shouldn't have been made & definitely shouldn't be viewed! It's even too bad to get a kick out of by people who enjoy making fun of bad movies! Even Mystery Science Theater wouldn't be bothered with this piece of trash! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!

I enjoyed this movie very much. It reminds me of the old Airplane spoofs from the 70's, except that they were beauty contestants stranded on an island after their plane crashed. I was thought it was particularly funny how one of the main characters named Mike, kept getting all the latest electronics and equipment and living good on the island they were ship wrecked on. Eric Roberts and the others always ignored him, but he was living large, while they were trying to figure out what to do next!! They were so stupid!!

I loved Michael Jackson's appearance in the movie as Agent MJ and the behind the scenes footage of shooting his part from his ranch. There is a very funny video the director of this film did a long time ago of Michael from his Thriller/Victory days.

Silly movie with Michael Jackson in it...just as described on the cover. This movie was never made for the theater and was released for a very brief period of time at a well known "rental movie store". Great interview with Michael Jackson at the end in his library at his home in Neverland. He also gets to interview a man who wrote a book about his childhood.. called: They cage the animals at night. Moving story of him growing up in and out of orphanages and foster families. Great book to go buy here on ebay. Easy read book meant for younger readers. I am 35 and love the book. Michael Jackson wanted to meet him because he had cancer and wasn't sure if the man would live long enough to see his book in movie format. Yet another Michael Jackson project he will not get to finish now that he has left us. His music, song lyrics he wrote and poems, drawings, movies, videos, stage performance are only a few of the things he did in his life. Go buy Moonwalk, Dancing the dream and Latoya book all from the 1980's here on ebay... if you want to know the real Michael .. not the one the media created to destroy him.

I started to watch it, I only bought this because of the Miss Galaxy thing. I am a former Mrs. Galaxy..But it is kinda like an "Airplane" type movie. Makes the pageant girls look dizzy..not really a fact in the pageant world.
Dry humor. kinda funny.

I love Michael Jackson and I guess that is what motivated me to make this purchase. This movie is a total dud in my opinion and Michael Jackson was hardly in the dumb movie. If I had only paid 3 - 6 dollars for it, I would not have been so upset about the purchase. I don't know what I was thinking parting with 30 some dollars for such a movie via an ebay seller. It is not the seller's fault that I made such a stupid decision but that does not make me feel any better.
