This is a quality set of clubs

Created: 09/08/10
I've always read reviews about others saying "I'm no hitting xxx yards longer. I never believed them until now. In fact the impact to me was detrimental. I overshot the green at least 3 times last Sunday (3rd time I used these clubs). However, I was happy. Imagine overshooting by 10 to 15 yards and sitting there smiling? I was. Why? The feeling of a sweet hit was amazing. My friend said that when you hit a forged club sweetly it feels like butter. He wasn't kidding. So that is the top three things about these clubs. FEEL, FEEL, FEEL. I'm an 18 handicap and I always have played Super game improvement clubs. Now I really know when I hit it sweet vs forgiveness. They are beautiful clubs. If part of golf is your friends staring at your clubs and wishing they had them then this is the set (you know us guys and our toys). The 7-PW hit the ball so high and sweet that it felt like being hugged by a beautiful woman when you looked at that deep divot on the green. I was so buzzed I actually felt like fixing other people's divots as well.
Graphite shafts - I love them. Love the feel, love the weight, love the balance between the shafts and heads. I was specifically looking for graphite after having such a great experience with my previous graphite set (Cobra SZs).
Cons - the 3 and 4 iron don't hit easy as full hybrids. However, that's just my skill level. A good golfer whould love them I think.
Overall I think the value in these clubs is that they would be appropriate for all levels of golfers. Mid and high handiappers will get forgiveness. Mid and low handicappers will get immaculate feel. I don't know about workability. I was able to fade them at will (but I can fade anything). I'm certain though that they would be workable. I think these are the perfect all round club. The trajectories of the 7-pw are so high that's it's a thrill to watch. Not even my Bazooka Geomax's or Cobra SZs match them. The 3-6 seem to have lower flights. I actually hit the 3 iron really good a lot of times but too early to tell if I can do it as consistently as a 3 hybrid as the 3 iron head looks real small and doesn't inspire confidence that I can get it every time.
Overall wonderful clubs that I would recommend to anyone.

Bought these to replace a beat up set of MX23's. Lighter swing weight (SL300 shaft instead of S300's on the old ones) which takes a little getting used to, but great performance, very forgiving, and the feel you'd expect from a forged Mizuno iron. I am a 10 handicap and a high-ball hitter and have had a few balloon straight into the wind, but mostly they just get up high and keep boring through it then stick like a lawndart when they hit. All in all, I would recommend these to anyone, but would also recommend a MX23 or MX25 (granted haven't hit those yet). My dad has the MX900 in regular flex graphite and is very happy with them also, I have them in stiff steel, his clubhead speed is may 80 whereas mine is about 105 so I think anyone can play these and benefit from them. Again, the feel is magnificent.

mmmm buttered toast

Been playing golf for 3 months now...started with a cheap set of knight golf clubs...upgraded to a callaway big bertha driver, adams golf lp rpm woods, a scotty cameron putter and these MX-900....started hitting round about 120-130 strokes...felt horrible (was never a big fan of golf to begin wiht)....practiced my swing and average 95-105 with the knight clubs (still rather being playing basketball)....upgraded to the new setup above and am consistently low 80's...golf is waaay more FUN when you consistently hit well (now equally distribute my time between golf and basketball)...love the new setup (i'm in love with the mizuno irons*) and think its an ideal set for beginners who are athletically inclined and motivated to become good no matter what* want to try out blades when I feel like i can hit the sweet spot every time

Mizuno MX 900 iron set

Created: 04/09/08
As usual for Mizuno this is a great set of irons. Great for a 18 handicapper down to scratch. Solid hits fly true with consistent distance. The weight of the club head lets you feel the head both on back swing and downswing. Solid feel with these clubs. Beginning with the 7 iron you get increased hybridization thru the 3 iron.

Is it just me?

Created: 28/12/06
The look of these irons are disappointing. Don't get me wrong I found the feel, forgiveness and consistency outstanding however there are definite design issues, which I suspect will eventually hinder these to people that maybe also considering there ugly sister the Nike Slingshots.

My issues are the fact that you can see the tungsten insert on the bottom, at adddress the bottom rear of the blade sticks out unusually in the long irons, the offset is very noticable, and the rear of the club has some cheap shiny plastic insert.

If Mizuno could somehow factor in all this technology with a more classic look, they would have a real winner.
