Retaining collaborators from Floyd's past (like producer Bob Ezrin), this Gilmour-led version of the band crafted a number of songs that were as cerebral and introspective as anything Floyd had done in the past. The first single, "Learning to Fly," served as the unofficial anthem for this latest chapter of Pink Floyd. The Andy McKay/Gilmour-penned "One Slip" uses the requisite bells and whistles along with Tony Levin's impressive stick solo to guarantee it a prominent place in the band's canon. "The Dogs of War" and "On the Turning Away" are perfect commentaries on the conservative mindset shaping the '80s at the time. The former is an ominous screed composed at a time when the Cold War was still a reality, and the latter is a swipe against the self-absorption of the Me Decade.

    Pink Floyd Survives!

    Created: 16/12/09
I understand all of the contributions that founding member Roger Walters made to Pink Floyd (Songwriting, vocals, bass guitar). But he should have realized that no one is irreplaceable. The other members of Pink Floyd proved that with the release of this album. With guitarist David Gilmore performing the lion's share of songwriting and vocals, "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" is a damn fine album. Supported by such brilliant songs as "Learning to Fly", "The Dogs of War", and "On the Turning Away", this album compares favorably to previous Pink Floyd albums. So if you like "The Wall", "Wish You Were Here" and "Animals", you will like "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" as well.

This is one of the best Pink Floyd cds out there, besides the Division Bell.
I think that after Roger Waters left the band after making The Wall, was probably the best thing to happen to Pink Floyd. From then on it was David Gilmour in charge of Pink Floyd and he made some of thier best cds ever!
A Momentary Lapse of Reason is filled with so many great songs. I listen to it just about everyday and could never get sick of the kick ass cd!

    The Dogs Of War

In several of my Pink Floyd reviews I went on and on about how much I love Roger Waters. On this one I get to sing the praises of David Gilmour. A Momentary Lapse Of Reason is by far my favorite Gilmour album. Lyrically, musically, and vocally perfect. Every once in a while I get this feeling that I am listening to early Floyd but it only lasts for a second and then the power of this art/rock classic brings me back to my senses. 5 Stars.

This is the cd to make you say "Roger who?" Pink Floyd's first album with out the diva Roger Waters! They did an awesome job and the album is solid from start to finish! "On the Turning Away" and "One Slip" were one of my favorites along with....it's all good!! If you're a new Floyd fan or an old one this is a must have! Just wish that they had "Excellent +" for a rating!

"A Momentary Lapse of Reason", A Fitting Title.

    Created: 10/10/10
I remember buying this album on LP when it first was released, and how disappointed I was. I really don't know what happened to cause Roger Waters to leave the band, but his presence is woefully missed. However: If you like the other "Pink Floyd" albums, this one is a must have for the musical remnants that are still present. I like to think of the album as "Pink Floyd Lite"
