Movie synopsis

Bennett Miller's adaptation of Michael Lewis' non-fiction best seller MONEYBALL stars Brad Pitt as Billy Beane, a one-time phenom who flamed out in the big leagues and now works as the GM for the Oakland Athletics, a franchise that's about to lose their three best players to free agency. Because the team isn't in a financial position to spend as much as perennial favorites like the Yankees and the Red Sox, Beane realizes he needs to radically change how he evaluates what players can bring to the squad. After he meets Peter Brand (Jonah Hill), an Ivy League economics major working as an executive assistant for scouting on another team, Beane realizes he's found the man who understands how to subvert the system of assessing players that's been in place for nearly a century. However, as the duo begin to acquire players that seem too old, injured, or inept to play major-league baseball, they face stiff resistance from both the A's longtime scouts and the team's manager Art Howe (Philip Seymour Hoffman), who outright refuses to allow Beane's more-nontraditional acquisitions to play. MONEYBALL screened at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival.

Baseball will always be the great American pastime.

For a sports film there might be better ones out there [past]. But I really enjoyed this film. Satisfying solid entertainment.

I found the approach appealing and a story that needed to be told. Pitt is excellent, as well as the supporting cast.

Funny, charming, touching and blunt if not brutal. All the things you love about baseball.

See it.

Here's to baseball, I love it.

Blessings, Max Rainet.

Oakland A's general manager Billy Beane (Brad Pitt) challenges the system and defies conventional wisdom when his is forced to rebuild his small-market team on a limited budget. Despite opposition from the old guard, the media, fans and their own field manager (Philip Seymour Hoffman), Beane - with the help of a young, number-crunching, Yale-educated economist (Jonah Hill) - develops a roster of misfits…and along the way, forever changes the way the game is played.

Moneyball sheds a new light on the "sport" of baseball -- A MUST SEE

 | Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

I bought Moneyball because it had an Academy Award nomination. Also, the author, Michael Lewis, insightful and entertaining. The movie presents baseball in a new light;we learn about the monetary aspect of winning and losing. Brad Pitt gives an excellent performance as the manager of the A's. By the end,I, a Yankee fan, wanted the A's to win the series. I think this is a must see, must read, for everyone, whether or not they are baseball fans.

Absolutely Amazing if you have not seen this MOVIE its a MUST. On a funny note I heard Billy Beane was happy to know a movie was coming out about him and was even happier to find out it was Brad Pitt that was playing him. The reality is wouldn't we all be happy if Pitt was playing us in a movie.
