This is a very competent machine. I use it in a medical office to take handwritten notes (which I transcribe later) and access an electronic medical record or sometimes the internet while in an exam room.
Handwriting recognition is somewhat clumsy, but so far I have mostly been using OneNote and saving image files. I think that will improve if I upgrade to Win7 -- I also use a Lenovo X200 with Win7 tablet for the same purpose and the handwriting function is much slicker.
It gets pretty hot, sitting on my lap, and the battery life is pretty short. However, I bought a used charger and an extra battery, and they swap pretty easily -- still working out how best to do that.
It is a CoreDuo with 2G memory -- seems to work just fine in computer functions. I presume a standard USB keyboard would work; I haven't tried it. The on-screen keyboard is a pain, but it works. Wireless works fine.
I am not convinced that Electronic Medical Records are the best thing since sliced bread, but this thing helps me make the transition to EMR less painful

Purchased for digital art

I purchased a used Motion Computing LE1700 for digital art. Mainly Sketchbook Pro and Zbrush.
I upgraded it with 3 gig of RAM (intel chipset will not see anything more than 3gig, google it!).
Works great for Sketchbook Pro!!
Zbrush actually works rather well on it. Haven't had a chance to do much sculpting, but from what I have seen, it can handle it.

I was on the fence for many years about tablet PCs and their use for art. After i read some good reviews i thought i would go ahead and try one out, and so far it is awesome. I did make sure to add 4gigs of ram to this baby and it was totally worth it. My only concerns is that since the tablet was used the battery life is pretty bad, ill get about an hour of use after a full charge, i will probably just buy i new battery soon. Also, the model i got had a 30gig hard drive, kinda wish i got one with more space.
