Motorola Krzr K1m (Verizon Wireless)
Created: 18/10/06
The Motorola Krzr K1m is downright sexy and offers Bluetooth, EV-DO support, and good call quality.
Just when you thought Motorola couldn't ride the wave from its popular Razr any longer, the once-staid, now-cool company rolls out its line of Krzr handsets. Styled similar to the Razr but with a few important improvements, the Motorola Krzr K1m casts a slim and striking profile that's sure to send cell phone fashionistas into a tizzy. As with its predecessor, the style-focused form factor entails some usability sacrifices in the controls, but the Krzr K1m ranks as the one of the prettiest cell phones we've seen thus far. On the downside, performance had its high and low points, and the Krzr K1m's features set, which includes Bluetooth, a megapixel camera, and support for EV-DO networks, doesn't offer any changes over Verizon's Razr V3m. And in all seriousness, just where did Motorola get the silly name? The Krzr K1m is so hyped that Verizon Wireless and Sprint announced availability within a week of each other, yet Verizon's version is the first to go on sale. You can get it for as low as $199 with service. (There's also a GSM version of the phone, the Krzr K1).
While we don't hide the fact that we're growing tired of the thin-phone phenomenon, we'll admit readily that the Krzr is getting us excited about diet handsets all over again. To put it mildly, the Krzr K1m is very pretty, so pretty that it makes the Razr look like some circa-1980s car phone. While the Razr was a one-trick pony with its design--thin from the side, yes, but also boxy and plain from the front--the Krzr is beautiful all around. At 4.05 by 1.73 by 0.67 inches, it has a slightly thicker profile than the Razr while also being taller and thinner when measured across its front face. The dimensions make the Krzr much more comfortable to hold in the hand and it feels better when cradled against your face. Also, at 3.6 ounces (a tad more than the Razr's 3.3 ounces), it enjoys a more solid construction and a sturdier hinge. It's still a bit hard, however, to feel such a small phone vibrate when it's in your pocket.
As Moto is quick to point out, the Krzr includes a plate of hardened reflective glass on its front face. Though that sounded a bit gimmicky when we first heard about it, the result is undeniably appealing with a sleek and sharp look. The dark gray color is nice as well, though we're partial to the blue face on the GSM Krzr K1. On the other hand, the K1m's darker hue attracts fewer smudges and fingerprints than the K1m. Motorola promises the glass will withstand cracking and scratches, but we didn't try to prove that wrong. Another highlight was the shiny chrome plating on the handset's bottom end.
The postage stamp external display is a bit small for the phone's size, but it shows an acceptable 65,536 colors. You can view the date, time, signal strength, battery life, and caller ID (where available), and you can use the display as a viewfinder for self-portraits. The display disappears entirely when the backlighting is off, but a flick of any exterior button will activate it again. Alternatively, you can change the backlighting time to always-on.

Awesome But not made for alltel anymore
Created: 27/11/06
I just got the new KRZR K1m for Alltel wireless. It is so awesome, options more than most phones! Nice Camera 1.3 Megapixel. Contacts List that holds up to 1,000 entries. Two color screens. Very shiny front almost looks like a mirror! The charger is wiered the plug is to the same as most digital cameras have. It charges real quik. It has a touchscreen for the mp3 feature, I use a 512mb card but it goes to 1gb, the slot for the microSd is in the back near the battery. The battery doesn't drain too quik really. The screen is great size. The phone is tiny, my friend has a pink v3 and this one is slightly thicker in width but is much less wider. The phone is an awesome color it is Dark Pearl Gray, it's got a reflective front side, the only bad thing of the front is u can see every where you've touched on the front leaves very noticable fingerprints and smudges. Has very nice sound qauility on speaker, has awsum ringtones i like almost all of them. What I got in my box was: manuals, phone, travel charger, thats all really i wish it came with headphones because their headphones on their website are $50. I love this phone and people comment already. Well hope this helps your descision. 10/12/06 -wrote in verizon one first on accident switching the review to the alltel.

Motorola KRZR K1
Created: 23/01/08
This phone is a multimedia phone at heart. It has anything you could need and then some. In my opinion the KRZR K1 out weighs the K1M. The KRZR K1M is a CDMA phone for services such as sprint and verizon. While the KRZR K1 is for gsm services such as at&t and t-mobile. While both share different features, the K1M lacks opposed to the K1.
I.E. The KRZR K1 has a 2.0MP Camera while the KRZR K1M has a 1.0MP Camera.
The KRZR K1 has easy access to your micro sd slot on top of your sim card for fast-swapping photo albums and music. The KRZR K1M has a micro sd slot which is damn near impossible to swap without using a mini flat-head screwdriver.
The KRZR K1 has no bluetooth file restrictions. Meaning you can make your own mp3 ringtones and send them via bluetooth to your phone. The KRZR K1M has bluetooth file restriction as you are forced to pay 3 dollars for sprint or verizons rintones.
The KRZR K1 has a video recorder as a feature which allows you to record videos at as long as 1 minute with sound. The K1M stops at 30 seconds.
The KRZR K1 has wonderful music quality and i have been hearing that the quality on the K1M suffers a lot.
The KRZR K1 has seamless multitasking and navigation without a hitch. The KRZR K1M is often jerky and unresponsive to certain button pushes and commands.
What im trying to get at here if you have not noticed is the K1 beats the K1M. If you are going for just appeal grab the K1M if you are going for appeal and performance get the K1. I have had this phone going on a year and i love it. It is small enough to shove in that little coin pocket on your jeans and is really customized if you make your own wallpapers and ringtones. While the K1 even lacks some minor features, the huge feature is the fact neither the K1 or the K1M is a 3G phone. C'mon motorola, the razr v3 had 3g support, squeeze it in the KRZR! Overall this is a preety slick phone and still somewhat new enough to have a 1-up on style on others. It will keep you happy for some time...or until they release 3G support.

HOT and SLEEK, but a PITA! MOTOkrzr KRAZR K1
Created: 24/04/07
Oh! The Motorola Krzr K1 is a delightful phone to look at! Slender, sleek and ultra sexy.
My husband has the black one, I opted for FIRE. We've had them about 2 weeks now. I'm going to give you my opinion on good and bad points only.
My favorite points? This phone is super slender, lightweight, all around easy to hold. Design is perfect for holding next to your ear, the most comfortable I've owned. Touch controls for music actually work! Screens are nice and bright, easy to read. Voice recognition works well for me, not so well for my husband and his Texas drawl. Hands free (speaker) is easy for both people to hear/understand.
The bad points? These super shiny phones are fingerprint magnets. Instant smudges! Back of these phones are a flat color, not shiny like the front. Camera on this phone is a waste of time. Yes, they are easy to take. No flash, grainy, ANY movement and you have a picture of a colored blur. If you are answering a call, and don't get it flipped completely up you end the call. This phone is hard to hear if its ringing in your purse, or in a car with music/screaming kids.
I've had nothing but problems with loading music, but I think thats operator error!! :)
Overall, if I could get this phone again I would... but only if I got it for a GREAT sale price! I've had tons of compliments on it AND it goes well with my wardrobe!
If your looking for a phone with great extra features, pass on this one.
