THE DOWN SIDE OF THE MOTOROLA V3
Dont drop these sleek looking little phones!
They tend to break the speaker connections,
thus creating very poor sound qality.
I am unaware of how most cellular companys deal with with this issue,
Singular Wireless is who i use, an they shipped me out a replaceent
within 3 days.

Motorola V3 Razor
Created: 20/11/06
I bought this phone thinking it was going to be the best phone I would ever have. Well it is not. The design is great and I cannot tell when it is in my pocket. The color choice is great; pink, black, grey, silver, and dolce and cabbana gold, I bought the black one. The phone works fine as long as you do the following. You have to turn your phone off and on at least once everyday and take the battery off and clean it and the chip behind the battery. If you do not do anything else for your sake buy a screen cover. If you do not buy a screen cover it will get dusty and then only way to fix that is to buy a special tool set off of ebay to take the screen off, even then your model Razor might have springs and then your in trouble. Also, the internet is not impressive, very dull.

Sleek and Stylish but it comes with a price

I have worked in the cellular industry for a long time and seen phone come and go. Motorola is usually at the cutting edge of phones and the V3 RAZR phone is no exception. I will give a short list of Pros and Cons of the phone and then expound a little more on then for those that care to get into more detail.
Pros:
+ Design
+ Structure (a solid frame)
+ Size
+ Battery Life
+ Keypad
+ Sound Quality
+ Customizability
+ Bluetooth
+ Messaging Software
Neutrals:
~ Speakerphone
~ Side Buttons
~ Software (can be slow, can be fast, can work great, can fail)
Cons:
- Vibration - hard to feel even in a tight pocket (could be due to size)
- Camera (easy to use, but only VGA (640x480 res))
- Sound Loudness (hard to hear in noisy places)
- Hinge (hard to open with one hand, same to close)
- Price
Pros -
The phone is solid. It is made out of the same material the Apple Powerbook G4 is made from, anodized aluminum. It is also the sleekest phone of the market coming in at 89 x 53 x 13.9 mm. It also is extremely light at 95 grams!
The battery life is pretty standard for phone coming out today with a 750 mAh Li-Ion battery that has maximum talk and standby times of 3.0 and 200 hours respectively under optimal conditions.
The keypad stays true to the design of the phone and is user friendly. I like the feel and design myself but I could foresee problems if your color blind (silver) or if your visually impaired.
The sound is fantastic for such a small phone. It was this one quality that I was most worried about. Everything worked perfectly when it came to incoming and outgoing calls. The only Con here was the speaker phone which will be discussed a little more below.
Customizability is incredible ... almost to the point that it might be a tad bit overwhelming if you don’t take the time to figure out how everything works. I still feel this is a Pro though as I can’t expect too many people would get this phone and not want to take the time to learn all the features. Everything can be customized but I do recommend you set a side more than just an evening to learn it all!
Bluetooth is now becoming more of a standard feature but I am sure glad to see it on this phone. It was a good decision on the part of Motorola and only adds to its futuristic style. Along with this the messaging feature is about par with the Motorola operating software and really doesn’t need any improvements.
I should also mention that this is a Quad band phone so for a world traveler (like me) this was a HUGE selling point!
Neutrals:
The speaker phone was nothing to write home about. It worked ... but that’s about all you could say for it. More often than not I would just end up turning it off and talking into the phone. If you have Bluetooth set up you shouldn’t really need to use it all that often and it didn’t work against the phone ... it just wasn’t the best it could be.
If you have used the V551 and similar models Motorola seems to be trying new uses for the side buttons ... but I have only found them more distracting than beneficial. One thing that irks me is that its quite temperamental when it comes to volume control and making the phone go silent.
Along with this there were no upgrades to the OS from previous models. While on par with what you would expect for most phones I thought there would be improvements here.
Cons:
Are pretty self explanatory but they should be taken into consideration before buying!

Modern Day Craze

Half an inch thin (yes, we said half an inch) and made of anodized aluminum, the Motorola flip phone looks and feels absolutely amazing. There's no dispute: The Razr (pronounced "razor") is the coolest-looking phone. Period.
The Razr is joyously thin. And though it may seem a little wide in relation to its thinness, it slips into any pocket with ease. Carrying it around is addictive; it's so much less of a bother than other phones. It mates well with Bluetooth headsets, and you can voice-dial numbers (as long as they are listed in the phone's address book). Call quality was acceptable, though not extraordinary. Indoors, the speakerphone and ringer could wake the dead.
Flip it open, and you're confronted by a vast screen that's bright enough, if not quite as bright as the Motorola V505's, and a keypad etched into a metal plate with slightly raised rubber numbers. This makes dialing very easy, but the four-way selector buttons above the keypad are a bit more slippery because of the lack of rubber bumps there.
In terms of software, the Razr is basically the same as the V505, which is a good thing. You can take pictures with the phone closed, but the VGA camera is just average (despite its glass, not plastic, lens). The V505's camera was much better. There's a WAP browser, an AIM client, a basic e-mail client, and up-to-the-minute Java game support (including a nifty golf game), although there's not enough horsepower to support much action gaming. We synced contacts, calendar, pictures, and MP3 ringtones with a PC, via both Bluetooth and a mini USB cable, using Motorola's Mobile PhoneTools ($29.99)OFFER IN OUR EBAY STORE) software.
Of course, fashion plates are notoriously quirky, and the Razr is no exception. Without the backlight on, the external display is virtually impossible to read. The case isn't easy to scratch, but if you do, scratches really show. Still, these minor nits won't stop the Razr from being in everyones pocket.

Not since the StarTac, has Motorola made such a splash in cellular circles. Yes, you can thank Motorola for inventing the concept of the original flip phone! But the new Razr V3 has done it again, creating the i want it vibe. The Razr is not the holy grail of cell phones, but it certainly is a cut above the rest. First and fore-most, the Razr is thin and light. No question this is THE pocket-able phone. Its sleek look has become almost a fashion statement, akin to the apple iPod. It has a nicely sized color display that is clear and comfortable to read. The keys are large enough for even the thick-fingered among us, and have a good feel. The display and keyboards are well back lighted for nighttime use with a soothing blue-green light, similar to Indiglow, which is not glaring or an obnoxious color. The aircraft aluminum accents are a nice hi-tech looking touch. The phone is wider than the average phone so you actually have something to hold on to, although others might find its width unusual. Fortunately for v3, beauty is not only skin deep. Motorola has always maintained an edge with their hardware technology and that has migrated into this phone as well. The sound clarity and quality is outstanding. The noise cancellation algorithm is superb. Ever notice when someone is driving and talking on their cell phone with a window open – you hear the wind and road noise? This phone does an excellent job of dramatically reducing that, to your callers, while you are talking and driving. This noise cancellation is also outstanding when using the speakerphone feature. Your calls are loud and very clear, and in my experience with using it – my callers said they didn’t even know they were on a speakerphone.
The phonebook feature is well laid out and easy to navigate and program. The phone also offers a voice-dialing feature that allows you to program items in your phonebook to dial by voice command. If you take your time to program this carefully, you will be rewarded with a very convenient feature that saves you time. The voice recognition works quite well for me.
Customize-able ring tones, mp3, custom wallpapers and screen savers. These features are common in nearly all of the color display phones available today – so I won’t spend a lot of time describing what is now almost standard. This phone does also play short videos.
The 4X zoom camera is a nice convenience and takes a reasonable picture, although it is not one of the best I have seen when compared to other phones. Arguably, I have seen better camera phones then the RAZR.
JAVA phone apps. This will be the buzz-phrase over the next few years. Who has the next great app? Who’s phone can run it? Many of the newer phones today run on JAVA-based programming. The RAZR is no exception. You can add other JAVA apps downloaded from Motorola, SUN Micro, or even private individuals on the Internet. I have seen applications from Fertility cycle trackers, to bartender drink mix guides. The more useful applications included limited mapping and mobile weather. None-the-less this phone, like some, allows you to download and execute the applications right on cell phone. So overall the razor is a really good phone if you want to be a part of the in crowd, it definitely wil turn heads, but I do believe it is a bit overated and oversold. Like I said the camera could be better and today alot of other phones like the samsung a900 do everything the razor does and alot more! so it depends what you need
