Works great, pumps up my speed and ability to upload content to others significantly, which is important to me since I have a large loop of buddies from all over the world, sharing and contributing fun and beautiful slideshows, videos, and more. I wanted to own my own modem rather than rent one from the cable co. and the DOCSIS 3.0 is the current old standard in the industry. My computer is pretty old but does well with this device. I was pleased to find it here, new, for an acceptable buy-it-now price.

This modem is excepted by all the major internet service providers, or to be even more precise, they are pushing these modems that are Docsis 3.0. They process information faster than the Docsis 2.0 and less, by approximately 4-6 times. This keeps their service running faster and you are using less bandwidth. I have looked over the lists of modems that are on there way out to the excepted and then the preferred. They are all the Docsis 3.0 and the ones on the list, as on their way out are all the others. So not only do you get a modem that processes data faster, but you are in the beginning of a modem's requirement with ISPs in the future. There are not a lot of choices that are Docsis 3.0 and accepted by all the major ISPs yet, as the Motorola's are. It is not all positive either. A negative is they are on the expensive side, all the SB and SBG of Motorola are Docsis 3.0, and they all do come at a premium price. If you are not in the market for a new modem, you may want to wait for prices to come down, if you need a modem now, definitely look at the Motorola's SB6120 and SB6121 if it's just a modem you are wanting. What ever your decision, make sure it's a Docsis 3.0 and runs on your internet service provider.

So far so Good. This modem is replacing my Motorola SB5100 which is about 10 years old. It still works, I just wanted to get a modem that supports DOCSIS 3.0. The New Motorola was easy to set up, but Cox did require me to call to have it authorized. Speed test results: 25.70 Mbps down and 5.30 Mbps up. Ping was 8ms. I have had no issues to this point.

All I can say is wow - downloaing media takes no time....where usually I was downloading 1GB file in just under 4mins. Now.....just a fraction of a minute close to 5x faster than before even with the best DOCSIS 2.0 modem 5101!! Surfboard sb6120 is amazing and defines blazing when its comes to speed. Webpages and video game downloads from ps3 and xbox360 takes no time at all and your movies from services like netflix and hulu will never do a hiccup. A monumental device and standards are set when it comes to holding the power of such a product. Amazing!!

Solid 47Mbps down on Rogers Cable in Toronto, if they give you trouble tell them to 'insert' the serial number into their list of allowed modems, or get a level2 tech when performing initial configuration. Modem is rock solid, just like all Motorola's. Always buy your new modem, never rent - obviously, given rental prices.
