"Celebrity" was nominated for Best Country Song.If Brad Paisley did not exist it would be necessary to invent him. He stands at the crossroads between the hipster realms of alt-country and the proletarian climes of mainstream Nashville. He's too close to the middle of the road to ever be drawn to the No Depression crowd's collective bosom, but he's miles ahead of the country assembly line. On his third album he continues to do things nobody else in the Nashville hierarchy does; play a number of his own instruments, write almost all his own songs, use his own band instead of the same studio vets that occupy the credits of seemingly every other contemporary country record. Most importantly, his songs are full of humor that doesn't descend into hee-haw jokiness. He uses a gently mocking touch to highlight the simple truths about life and love, gaining a fresh, distinctive perspective in the process. The title cut is as close as he gets to commercial, and by "Hold Me In Your Arms" he's dipping into the Bakersfield sound with aplomb. "The Cigar Song" is a shaggy-dog tale worthy of Loudon Wainwright. And what other pop-country star would include two Western Swing-style instrumentals on an album, one of which ("Spaghetti Western Swing") seamlessly melds Wills and Morricone. Now that's an accomplishment!

The new version of Vince Gill....Brad Paisley

Created: 12/07/08
Brad Paisley is a recent discovery of mine. I tend to stay with the older favorites but after seeing several of his videos on CMT and noticing his tremendous guitar work, well I'm a big fan now and own all of his CDs after receiving this one today. Brad also writes most of the songs he recordhs and at the end of the CDs he gets a few of the elder statesmen of country music together for a laugh or two.

Brad Paisley is now in my Top 10 of male vocalists which includes Alan Jackson, Vince Gill, Gram Parsons, John Prine, George Jones, Jimmy Ibbitson, Don Williams, Merle Haggard, Hank Williams Sr. & Jr., Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, and a few others. Pretty good company for Brad, huh?

I suggest you treat yourself and get his music in your collection as soon as possible.

Well he has done it again. Brad Paisley is one of the current country singers that can keep putting out hits. His talent for funny, happy songs comes out again on this CD. Mud n the Tires just makes you want to go jump in your truck and have fun. Celebrity speaks for it's self! What a talented musician. You can't go wrong buying this CD.

I bought this CD for one song on it, " Whiskey lullaby" with Alison Krauss. I love that song! I did find a couple more songs on this album that I liked as well... I will be keeping this one.
