Movie synopsis

Flanked by fabulous computer-generated battle scenes that would make BRAVEHEART proud, THE MUMMY RETURNS is a fast-paced sequel that surpasses the hit 1999 original, both directed by Stephen Sommers. Virtually the entire cast has come back for another exciting go-round, this time trying to prevent Imhotep (Arnold Vosloo) from gaining control of the Bracelet of Anubis and taking on the Scorpion King (the Rock) for control of the world. But to gain that power, Imhotep and his vicious true love, Anck-Su-Namun (Patricia Velasquez), must get to the Oasis of Ahm Shere before Rick O'Connell (Brendan Fraser), his wife, Evie (Rachel Weisz), their son, Alex (Freddie Boath), the mysterious Ardeth Bay (Oded Fehr), and Evie's brother, Jonathan (John Hannah, who provides much of the comic relief). Set in 1933, THE MUMMY RETURNS combines elements of the STAR WARS and INDIANA JONES films in letting loose a scintillating thrill-ride of a movie, chock-full of terrific special effects and marvelous locations (Morocco, Jordan, and London), erupting in a spirited tale of flight and fantasy, sword and sorcery. The addition of Freddie Boath to the cast increases the suspense as well as the comedy; his scenes with the evil Lock-Nah (fiercely played by OZ veteran Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) are among the best in the film. THE MUMMY RETURNS also features professional wrestler the Rock as the Scorpion King, who was defeated in 3067 BC and is ready to be resurrected in the Year of the Scorpion.

Continued from " The Mummy " this episode stars Scorpian King (The Rock), Rick (Fraser) and Evelyn (Weisz)and their son Alex (Boath). The High Priest as Imhotep (Vosloo). After finding the bracelet that can control the Scorpian King armies, Alex accidently wears it and it cannot come off. Now in a matter of time before Alex gets turned into something you don't want to know, his family is on their way to the Egpyt again. Now they have to face their enemies once again, and this time something is standing in their way. That is the Scorpian King. However just barely managing to get to the pyramid in time before sunlight, that was not over yet. Imhotep wants to slay the scorpian king to control his armies. However he fails, scorpian was slayed by Rick. Now for the final moment of life or death. The whole pyramid and everything around it is being sucked up and they have to get out of there ASAP. With the help of their friend Izzy and his flying boat ship, they manage to get out alive with a souvenir. I only summarize the quick main points of this movie. The rest if up to you to watch and enjoy. Hope you enjoy this movie as i did. GREAT MOVIE, GREAT ACTING, A MUST SEE! 10 out of 5 stars!

A live action 50's comic book!

Well, nearly. The style of the previous movie remains, keeping the pacing going at the right times and letting things slow when needed.
Comic relief aplenty, almost too much of it! They let the cheese go ripe on this one! lol
If you didn't like the goofy comedy of the first, you're going to like this one even less.
The conversion to HD is nearly perfect and the 5.1 sound is awesome.
If you're wondering if the HD version is worth having if you have the DVD, then yes, it certainly is!
The mummies don't lose a thing, in fact even gain from the HD. Our lead mummy really shines in HD! So do all the special effects.
