MX vs. ATV Reflex (Sony Playstation 3, 2009)

MX vs. ATV Reflex is another very solid release from Rainbow Studios, though the franchise hasn't changed a ton in the gameplay department despite some pretty hefty on-paper features. The controls are still great, the track design is at the top of its class and there are enough events here to keep you coming back for ages, not to mention a very solid and capable online component. If you're a fan of offroad racing, this is definitely worth a serious look, though don't go in expecting a completely different racing experience.

Lots of content to be found and the in-race presentation has seen great improvements, though the menus are rather drab.
7.0 Graphics
The terrain deformation is great and the draw distance is good, but the PS3 version has some blurry textures in the distance.
8.0 Sound
The soundtrack is nothing to write home about, but the engine sounds are what matter, and they're handled quite well.
7.5 Gameplay
Despite a number of new features, longtime fans will find the gameplay to be similar to past titles. The trick judging could use some work.
7.5 Lasting Appeal
Lots of events to run through and a solid online component will keep you coming back for hours and hours.

I recently purchased a Sony PS3. Having been in the sport of Motocross for a
number of years and having read good reports about Relfex. I wanted to give it a
go. The game came out December of 09. So, finding it on a store shelf was unlikely.

What I love about it is the realism. Really great physics, and the graphics are fantastic as well. Also, the way the game keeps tabs on the conditions of the track as you go one lap to the next. Really great feature there. The control is something to get used to, very sensitive to say the least. Once you start getting the feel of it it's quite good.

The free online network is about the biggest dislike. Lagg isn't an issue, waiting for a race to begin at times is. Even if there is another rider or riders in the staging area waiting to race. It sometimes stays in the "waiting for players" mode. Also once in you sometimes are just sitting there with no ability to do anything. These issues aren't constant, it happens 3 out of 10 connections I'd say. You can wait it out, or restart. If they go to a pay system (which wouldn't be a lot, about 60 bucks a year) I would expect these problems to be nonexistent. When all is good, it's alot of fun. Some serious riders out there! Not to go on about it, after all it is free to play online through the PlayStation network.

Any Moto racer, fan or enthusiast of any motor sport I recommend Mx vs ATV Reflex. It's not a given, you have to learn to get good.

Pros = Great graphics, the bike sound has greatly improved, once you get the controls down pat they work awesome.

Cons = Not enough customization choices, bike parts and gear are outdated

REVIEW = I bought this game because I wanted to add it to my motocross game collection. I think the game has improved alot compared to recent versions. I havn't really done alot of research on this game, but do hope they will release some download packs for it. I would recommend this game to anyone that is a fan of motocross. It's a fun and exciting game.

As I have stated so many times THQ needs to stick with wrestling because their racing games suck.The graphics aren't all they are hyped up to be,the rider controls sucks,this is not a good game for $60.00.

Easily the most unrealistic MX / ATV game of all time.
The game seems like it's unfinished and with the ridiculous physics engine it uses, it is easily the worst dirt bike game on the planet.
I'll stick to MX vs. ATV Unleashed on PS2 as it is still the most accurate MX game, 5 years later.
