My Fair Lady (DVD, 2004, 2-Disc Set, Special Edition)

I JUST LOVE THIS MUSICAL!!~~ I purchased this DVD anniversary edition of the Academy Award winning "MY FAIR LADY" to add to our DVD collection after I realized my 19yr old daughter had never seen what she now realizes is the original version of "Pretty Woman." :-) Well, of course this is played by Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison in a musical format, and is about making over a poor English flower girl in horse and buggy days, instead of a current day struggling "working girl," Julia Roberts, also of the street and leading man Richard Gere. BUT my daughter thoroughly enjoyed it just the same. She also seemed pleased too to make the connection of the re-make of classic tale after a few minutes in to playing it today for the first time, :-). I loved it as much this time as when I saw it years ago, and also in the theater version years ago! - It is a charming romantic comedy, with a wonderful message really of not judging a book by it's cover. The boy meets girl, loses girl, and gets girl back tale after he realizes he's messed up, smiles! CLASSIC!! :-) ~ MY FAIR LADY is terrific family viewing, with strong family values presented in this classic musical! :-)~~ I'm glad it is available on DVD, and I can't wait to view the EXTRAS disk in this Anniversary Edition DVD of the musical.

The songs are so inspired, so full of life! They set your feet to dancing whether you are a fan of this era's music or not. (Of course, I am.)
I bought My Fair Lady because I have been searching for the dvd version ever since my vhs version was destroyed in a flood. I am so glad to have this movie back in my collection and with more extras than ever!
The scenes are beautiful, the costumes are breathtaking and the singing... I have already mentioned how amazing it is! Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison make a delightful team in this story.

This is a fine movie production of a Broadway play, with amazing costumes. It was produced in 1964 and represents the finest production values for a musical bar none. I'd rate it five and a half stars. Audrey Hepburn at her best and Rex Harrison as we all remember him...

If you enjoy musicals, amazing costumes, and classic actors/actresses like Audrey Hepburn, you will definitely enjoy this film. Not only is it cute and entertaining as its own story, but it also reaches into the depths of language learning and phonetics. Teachers, keep this film in your closet as an entertaining educational tool for your students.

I you have never seen My Fair Lady ... you must see it. If you have seen it, what can I say that you don't already know. Fantastic songs performed by incredibly talented performers. Costumes beyond compare. Audrey Hepburn is beautiful and compelling. It is a long movie, but you don't notice it at all. AND ... as a bonus ... there is a documentary about the making of the movie and the restoration of the film. This is also a must see. Buy this dvd and you won't be disappointed.
