National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (HD DVD, 2006)

Chevy Chase is once again SPECTACULAR in delivering some of the silliest humor you will ever see. Beverly D'Angelo (YOWZA! What a hottie!) again compliments Chevys role in the picture well. All the worst things you can imagine going wrong at Christmas time happen in this movie. (And then some.) The Griswolds are simply just trying to have the hap-hap-happiest Christmas possible. But there is just a snowball effect of one bad thing after another happening throughout the ENTIRE movie. It has been said that comedy is drama that happens at someone elses expense. This movie epitomizes that statement. It is great for the entire family. And SURE to bring laughter into your home at Christmas time. It is a tradition in my house to see this flick every year. And there truly is a sense about the movie that makes you grateful for what you do have. National Lampoon does it again. This movie is a keeper. I give it 5 stars!

The movies itself gets 5 stars, quite possibly my favorite Christmas movie of all time... However the transfer to HD on this one is very poorly done... The source material is in dire need of cleaning, which clearly wasn't done before the transfer of this movie... Don't get me wrong, it is an improvment over a standard DVD, but not one you want to pop in and show off to your friends as being "High Definition"...

Well this movie is a holiday tradition in my house since the first year it was released.
But like Clark I always have higher than average expectations which no
DVD will ever quite live up to.
The HD version is an improvement over the SD version.
The transfer is not the best DVD I have seen but its worth having in your library.

I have loved this movie for years! It is a deffinate Christmas must watch/have! It is warm and fuzzy and hilarous! It also touches home in that we can all see our own families portrayed in the Griswolds. I myself suffer from being a little like "sparky"!

I have a 50" LCoS 1080p Sony SXRD and this movie looks awesome. There isn't alot of action in it so there is very little chance of pixilation on any HDtv. The HD version is cleaned up so well, I would beg you to argue the movie could look any better. (exception is the explosion in the end but that is from the late 80's FX). I have owned the VHS, DVD and now HD DVD. This is by far the best transfer I have ever seen this movie. A timeless classic that tops my CHRISTMAS movie list.
