Nothing new
Created: 23/08/06
This game is just a rehash of last year with the same flaws and a few new features. I found that the defense is still really flawed in pass coverage. Nothing like seeing a college quarterback, throw across his body and the field, and hit his triple covered wide receiver while the defenders just sit there. On offense, you still have the problem where a receiver will continue running in a straight line after a catch and not actually trying to cut somewhere to pickup yardage. Nothing like having a receiver run a hook and not pick up yards because they refuse to turn up field. If you haven't played an NCAA game in a long time, then this will be worth it, otherwise, there isn't anything new. I'm shocked that EA can charge the same price when you are just getting updated rosters year after year after year.

My New Favorite Football Game!! Awesome!!!

This game has tons of great features. The graphics are great. However if you want to get the biggest bang for your buck you should probably be familiar with college players and teams. If you've played the 2006 version, you probably loved the dynasty mode, and trust me it has only improved. Another thing I love about it is that you get a more realistic college football experience now that you go to school too. The better you do in school, the better your stats are on the field. It's really cool. The also incorporate going to college on the weekends too. You have to pick whether or not you want to practice or study for your classes. It's very realistic considering your player even has mid-terms and finals. The tests aren't simulated either, you actually have to take these tests. If you don't pass, you risk losing your scholorship. Another great thing is that if you enjoy rushing your defensive line, they now have it so that you can get a great jump on the ball and destroy the offensive line. You just have to press the X key when you think the ball is going to be snapped. If successful you'll be able get to the quarterback and possibnly force a fumble. After that alot of the game is exactly like NCAA 06, a good thing I might add. I think it's definitly worth it $50 pricetag. It's a great game to play with your friends. However I do recommend renting any game before you buy it.

NCAA Football 07

The reason this game gets a 3/5 is because the potential for this game has yet to be realized. I broke the game down into categories for rating it- On and off the field.
All of the off-the-field features of the game are exactly the way any fan of the series could ask for. Dynasty mode goes deeper with more recruiting and a spring game where you can evaluate players. The sim engine is not as bad as last years game where an average day meant 25-30 passing with 325 Yards and 5TDs or 18 carries for 225 Yards. You will actually see some players struggle (though, still not as often as in real life) with 12-25 passing days and only 112 yards with a pair of picks. Rating 4.5/5
The problem with this game is gameplay. AI for the CPU has increased a small margin over the past two years, but there are still the same glaring flaws. Deep passes are very easy to complete in one on one coverage vs. the CPU. Even when controlling the DB, it is still difficult to prevent the deep ball, making Cover Twos and naked blitzes hard to run properly. Bump-n'Run is blown way out of proportion and stands WRs up at the line, keeping them from running their proper route. Online, you will see most people in Bump-N'Run 90% of the time on a regular play. Field goal kicking has become more challenging- to some, by the new right analog kicking feature. But the major weakness of this style means that straight FGs are automatic. And not every kicker can kick 55yards. Players with fast QBs are a staple of online play if you want to win. Rollouts and sprint outs guarantee open receivers on crossing routes over the middle- regardless of coverage. QBs that get outside the pocket usually have the option of throwing a 40yd pass, running for 20+yards, or hitting a WR over the middle for who knows how much. And as I said, the AI did get a little better over the last two years, but that doesn't mean that it's anywhere near where it should be. Rating- 2.5/5
If you like College Football, this is a GREAT game to play just for the spirit and enjoyment of the sport. But if you play football games for the challenge and are really particular of playing a "straight", realistic game, "like one seen on television," I'd recomend giving Madden 07 a shot. To some, It might be pro ball, but other you'd be hard pressed to find any major weaknesses in the series (aside the dropped INTs) and have a much better time if you are playing for the strategical part of the game "as seen on T.V.

PS2 EA Sports NCAA Football 07

Game play is ok. About the same as 06. Some new features are good ideas (ie: first person view for kick block and return) but need some fine tuning. They keep changing default controller setup from year to year. Graphics are great, but could also use some new creative changes. Dialogue is about the same from 04-07 a few new changes. Overall it still gets a 4 out of 5 but the hype didn't live up to the game. If you have EA NCAA 06 just keep it and save the money.

If you're a fan of football -- you'll love this game!

Electronics Arts has done it again - producing another winner with NCAA Football 07 for the Playstation 2. This is my second purchase of this game - as my first purchase, I guess I played it so much -- it developed scratches!
It's no secret that EA has owned the sports video gaming world for years. This installment of NCAA football picks right up where 06 left off... an outstanding overall gaming experience.
From a graphics standpoint, many if not all of the player animations from a year ago are back -- note to EA, feel free to update these whenever you're ready. And the post game celebrations... come on. But the game moves as smooth as ever. Realistic running, better blocking, the receivers run better routes, the tackle animations are fantastic -- even Lee Corso's mascot heads are hilarious! Nice job.
The sound is great - the crowd noise and bands are fun to listen to and give a nice college football environment to the game. I never get tired of hearing "Rocky Top".
The control is a lot better -- the DBs and safeties break on the ball a lot more realistically, no more closing speeds at the speed of light. runningbacks do a better job of finding the holes, lineman block better, there's still a problem with the "hail mary" working 9 times out of 10, but that's besides the point.
Here are my issues -- presentation. It's time for a "Halftime show". Something. Anything. I've also addressed the player animations. Time for some new ones, and remove the old ones. I like the slow motion hard hits ... but not so often, okay? And while I'm *finally* getting used to the unique field goal kicking mechanism - the kick returning view is horrible.
