NCIS - The Complete First Season (DVD, 2006, 6-Disc Set)

I must admit it took me many years to finally watch & appreciate the NCIS series & it was only after having surgery & being house bound that I did. I was delightfully pleased with what I saw & quite disappointed that I never gave the series a chance.

NCIS is a series based on Navy Criminal Investigators that work all sorts of crimes involving Navy & Marine personnel. It is incredibly well written & features plenty of actgion & intrigue. The characters are well developed & play well off of each other.

The first season deals with how the team came together & developed. The team leader is the hard nosed former Marine sniper Leroy Jethro Gibbs. Easy to see why he is 'hard nosed!' He is teamed with former Baltimore cop & womanizer Tony Dinozo, former secret service agent & feminist Caitlin Todd, forensic expert & "Goth Girl" Abby Scuito & medical examiner Dr Donald Mallard. They would be later joined by computer geek Timothy McGee. This very diverse group works well together, but also adds controversy to every episode as they try to work together.

Mark Harmon is Gibbs & is far removed from his previous roles. He does a wonderful job of brininging Gibbs to life. The only other actor of note is David McCallum of "Man From Uncle" fame. He plays the somewhat long winded Dr "Ducky" Mallard & is also wonderful!

I highly advise you to check out this wonderful series if you are a nay sayer as I was. You will be quite pleased & surprised!

This is the best investigation show out there! It is based on the real Agency the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS). The stars are, Mark Harmon (Specai Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs) the team leader, Sasha Alexander (Special Agent Caitlin Todd ) Michal Weatherly (Special Agent Anthony Dinozo), David Mccallum (Doctor Donald 'Ducky' Mallard) and Pauley Perrette (Forensic specialist Abigail Sciuto) They deal with murders of Naval and Marine officers. It is a terrific show.

NCIS is easily one of the best crime dramas on television. Touches of humor and great story lines will have this show on for quite a while. In the first season the team is introduced, but right away they seem familiar and like they actually have character development. As tough as Mark Harmon's character is, he's likeable and you know he has a heart. Tony, well Michael Weatherly is the perfect loveable cad. Pauley Perrette gives "Goth" an adorable sweetness and incredible smarts. This one is a keeper!

I remembered the beginning of NCIS, as it was introduced during the series, JAG. Was it possible that something could come along and be as good as JAG? Well, yes and it continues to be as good, if not better, in way's. The chemistry of the character's and the excellent writing combines to create a great hour of TV. My daughter had not known Sasha Alexander's character, Kate Todd, and I wanted to introduce her. It is good to go down memory lane with a great cast and drama.
I strongly recommend seeing the first season and refresh your memory. If you've never seen how Gibb's was in the beginning, check it out.

I'm a huge JAG fan but had missed the NCIS spin-off from Season 8. I also missed the first season of NCIS when it first aired. So glad it is on DVD. NCIS is a witty, well-acted show. The cases are both realistic and puzzling enough to keep you guessing through out the show. The actors interaction is very realistic in my opinion and helps to draw you into their lives further. The only thing I don't like about the DVD set is that it does not offer a play all function.
