A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT FOR NFS FANS
Created: 29/09/09
I am a fan of Need for Speed series and I have been loving this game since Most Wanted and Carbon.. I didn't really like it when ProStreet came out and I got even more disappointed with Undercover. First, I didn't believe why people have been badmouthing this game and I gave it a try, which I eventually would regret.
Okay, so I have been playing all my games on my PS3 smoothly, with beautiful graphics, and glorious sound. One thing I really hate about this game is its bugs and glitches. The game is very laggy at times when you play it, very often that it starts to annoy you and you wouldn't blame the PS3 of course. And it is not because of the disc, cos I am buying it brand new. Then at times during racing, the scenery in front of you will be a clear sky like when you are going to go down a hill, NOT. It is actually a graphical glitch! makes me really wonder why this can happen at this game using PS3. It's embarrassing playing this game on PS3! So first you think you are going downhill, when seconds later the road suddenly pops out and it's a sharp turn that you will not be able to make unless using the speed-braker.
Then I can't tolerate how the visual performance and quality using PS3 and HDTV is so mediocre! And it is really slow in loading the game. Everytime you enter an event or trying to access your car, tuning your engine, and any other activities, you are going to face the very slow loading screen that's annoy me so much that most of the time I can't really get myself play this game cos of its slow load. Can you imagine how dreadful it is to tune and test drive your car if the game has to load so slow after we make some minor adjustment?
For me, for my fellow EA and NFS lovers, avoid this version, like how we have avoided ProStreet. Let's just hope that EA and Blackbox can do better with the next version, SHIFT.

Black Box forgot a spark plug or two. And an engine.

EA's Need for Speed franchise has been in an odd position the last couple years. While the franchise often worked to mix up the formula from year to year a decent bit, the release of EA's own Burnout Paradise posed a bit of a conundrum for the publisher. With Burnout switching to an open world setting, it meant that it competed directly with Need for Speed in that space. Last year's Need for Speed ProStreet was a diversion for the series from recent years, going to track-based racing, plenty of tuning options and focusing entirely on the events than exploring the city or running from the cops.
ProStreet didn't turn out too well, so Black Box went back to the drawing board and returned to an open world setting with this year's Need for Speed Undercover, but that wasn't the only design change. Undercover also seems to be directed right at the casual market, both in terms of presentation and its extremely relaxed learning curve.

Lots of fun

I grew up being a huge Need for Speed fan. This game definitely doesn't disappoint any gamer that likes the way previous releases played. I tried Need for Speed Carbon and feared that EA had changed for the worse. After receiving this game, I can say that they are back on track to being true to the previous games that were so much fun.
I have only tried the game online a few times becuase I just have too much fun taking out Police cars and winning races to get me better vehicles. I have made it to level 18 and now begain to find some real challenges.
If you liked previous NFS games, you are sure to love this one!

More like "Don't Open The Cover"

I thought it would be another game from the killer Need For Speed series like "Need For Speed - Shift", which was incredible, but turned out to be a cross between "Cruising USA" and "Grand Theft Auto" without the fun of being able to get out of your car and take out your aggression for buying the game on other characters.
Game starts out running from the police and you eventually build up "Jobs" or "Races" through a Metropolis Area (just like in "Grand Theft Auto"), but car handles like a cheap version of "Cruising USA" and I got no further due to boredom. Leave the box unopened and maybe you can sell it on ebay like the seller of this game did to me!
