I thought this book would teach me how to convert knit stitches to crochet stitches for any pattern. Eventually, I might be able to figure it out! This book, while having many wonderful and teriffic looking items in it, has the most difficult crochet directions to understand EVER! The lack of benchmark information is a significant part of the problem. In addition however, the author assumes way too much. (Example: ...on the fourth row below..--does that mean four rows below or the fourth row of the pattern?) The lack of diagrams to explain makes this book prime for only the most experienced of crochet crafters! By the way, I have been crocheting since I was 8 years old-(more than 40 years) and I found this to be a challenge.

I bought this book to be able to transform any knit pattern to crochet. I think I will stick to crochet patterns only from now on.

I think at first I would see some kind of formula for how to convert one pattern to another.
What this book does do is to show a crocheter how to mock up a pattern to look like knitting, which is essentially a great thing to do as most people think of crochet as old fashioned and knitting as fashionable.
As a spinner of my own fibers, it seems that the world is only open for those who can knit. I cannot knit. This book is going to be a life saver in the process of reclaiming knitting patterns and their style and using curved hooks to make the same item.

A Fantastic book! It's unbelievable that it's a text book that you cannot put down.

Also the sample patterns in the book are in beautiful color and easy to follow even if you are a novice crochet student.

From Needles to Hook-Complete Guide to Converting Knit

    Created: 04/09/08
Because I am a knitter as well as a crocheter, I like the fact that there are instructions for the sampler afghan squares written for both (in blue for knit). I crochet much faster than I knit, but I love the look of knitting. While it is impossible to get the exact look for knit patterns, the crochet versions definitely create some interesting alternatives. I think it is going to be a useful resource.

I love to crochet but there are some beautiful items that are knitted and I'm not crazy about knitting. This book teaches how to convert knitting patterns to crochet. It is clear in it's instructions and gives patterns to make or just to practice your conversion skills.

Buying this book enables me to more than double the number of patterns I can now use.

This book will not be used every day, but it will be used when a knit pattern needs to be translated into crochet stictches - a must have for every crochet library...lots of common sense information and photos that compare the knit stitch to the crochet counterpart. I love this book and know that I will use it over the years.
