It does what it's supposed to do.

It navigates me from Hartford, CT to Boston, MA without a problem and if that's all that I wanted from it, I'd be impressed. But I wanted more. I bought it because it also has an MP3 player but there's a catch.
Cons:
You can't navigate and play MP3's at the same time.
MP3 player is terrible. They should've just included windows media player instead of kludging their own disasterous player.
Battery lasts a good 30 minutes, if that.
User interface is very slow.
Pros:
Gets me where I want to go.
Does auto-complete on cities and street names.
Allows me to pan the map while travelling.
Runs Windows CE .Net 4.2 Core so I can write software for and hack it fairly easily.
Conclusion:
This GPS is for my junker car. My next car, I'm just going to get an in-dash radio with built-in GPS.
EDIT: Final disposition: Okay, I'm going to go on a small tirade here but, anyway, 99.99% of car electronics that use the cigarette lighter are just straight through plugs without any special hardware inside the plug. That's how the plug is for my radar detector and my FM transmitter and my power inverter and my cellphone charger et al. This device is the first that I have ever encountered that decided to put a step down transformer inside the actual plug. So I just finished putting together a bank of wire screw-downs for powering all my electronics and when I turned my car on, lo and behold, exactly 1 device went up in smoke. The poorly designed Nextar GPS. Perfect. This just culminates what this product is all about. It has all the parts of a good GPS (MP3 player, GPS, touchscreen), it just really poorly impliments them. Get a Garmin and save yourself the disappointment.

Good value for the money

Good, but very basic GPS system. This unit does not have all the bells and whistles most of them do have, but it is a good product for the value you might pay. Especially if you can get it on Ebay for less than $80. I was very satisfied for what I paid for it (approx. $60), and will use this unit for a while. Eventually I will purchase a nicer, more expensive unit, with all the bells and whistles, but as we all know, technology changes so much. I will wait some time to get what I really want, and wait for those prices to fall.

Beyond Expectations

Compact, eloquent, lightning speed, no missed opportunities, seems to know all speed zones anywhere, seems to know when red lights change, speed alarm is accurate anywhere, MP3 player is user-friendly and computer savvy, shows slideshows as well as any other player. Voice is pleasant and all directions given in plenty of time for lane switches, etc. I recommend this unit highly. Replacement parts are readily available from a number of aftermarket dealers. The touchscreen is sensitive but not fragile. The menu options are easy to understand and negotiate. The GPS options are unbelievable. Set it and forget it. So easy to read. So handy to own. So convenient to program and set-up. Like having the best "road-scholar" as a passenger.

Nextar Gps Navigation great product for the money

Im just getting started with the Nextar GPS. I have never owned one before but found this one very simple to use. I cant see spending more on a different unit when this unit does everything I need it to. I had no issues so far with it. Charge it 4-8 hours and go.
