| Hit the ice with EA Sports' NHL 06 for the PS2. This entry in the NHL series builds on the 2005 version by adding new rules and an up to date rooster that includes just about every big name in the National Hockey League. NHL 06 includes everything from NHL 05, including the revamped shooting controls. New to the 2006 version is the use of the left analog stick for deking, which in hockey terms means to dodge and fake out defenders. The right analog stick is used to pull off fancy moves like a spin or between the legs pass. These fancy moves will distract goalkeepers, giving the gamer an opening to shoot. The drawback to these moves is that only superstar characters can pull them off regularly. The game includes many of the traditional hockey game modes, including dynasty mode. In dynasty mode, gamers will control their own hockey team and have to deal with outside pressures, sponsors, and more while trying to meet the team philosophy, which is different for each team. Other modes include single season, leagues and tournaments, quick game, and online play. The graphics of NHL 06 are top notch. This time, they've been tweaked to accurately show character size differences. The defense players and goalkeepers, who are traditionally larger players, actually look larger, while the smaller and faster scorers are indeed a little thinner and smaller. This is just one small change that adds to the overall amazing gameplay of NHL 06. | |

NHL 06 is the best multiplayer hockey game to date (As of Nov. 21, 2007)
I've played the new and improved (meh...) NHL 07 for Xbox 360 as well as the same and nothing has really changed NHL 07 for PS2, and I still find NHL 06 to be the best multi-player NHL hockey game.
The new NHL 07 game for Xbox 360 is superb, the graphics are awesome, it has so many great features, etc, etc, etc... but it just doesn't satisfy my hunger for a fast paced, hard hitting hockey game. NHL 07 for the Xbox 360 is by far, a better game in almost all aspects except multiplayer.
NHL 06 has satisfied hours upon hours of multiplayer madness between my friends and I. The only thing I'd change in NHL 06 is how good the goalies are, other than that NHL 06 delivers multiplayer hockey at it's best.
If you disagree with me, get 4 friends together, make two teams, and play a 2 on 2 best of seven series. Trust me, you'll see what I'm talking about.

my son loves the game it is like being right on the ice with players . he playes every day . i think the game is like you are watching a really game . the hitting is great and the fitghting is like your at the game . you can even pull your goaldey just like the really game some games do not let you do that.

) NHL 2006 is a cheap game I bought just because. I like this game. Is there better? Yes. It's just an old game, but a classic. The graphics aren't to bad, the teams obviously have changed since then. It's been over 3 years. I am looking to buy the new NHL 2009 soon.

EA SPorts is the greatest sports game company by far. Not only is NHL 06 a great game it comes with NHL 94 to very cool. I defiately would recommmend this game to anyone and everyone, great game.
