Movie synopsis
Like a Chinese-American version of DORA THE EXPLORER, this animated kid's program from Nick Jr. offers an educational experience that is also fun. Kai-lan is an upbeat and rambunctious Chinese-American preschooler who gets in all sorts of adventures with her friends, family, and animal buddies. The cast of characters includes her grandpa YeYe, who passes on age-old Chinese traditions; Tolee, a koala you can count on; and Rintoo, a tiger who sometimes bites off more than he can chew. Along the way, the gang teach viewers about Chinese culture, some important lessons about life, and even a little Mandarin! The festivities of the Chinese New Year take center stage in CELEBRATE WITH KAI-LAN. Kai-Lan and her friends are finally big enough to carry the dragon costume--but will the responsibility be too much for them? This collection includes four episodes.

) My 2-yr old daughter loves Dora the Explorer. But she started getting into Ni Hao Kai-lan on Nickelodeon, and I love it as an alternative (how much Dora does a parent have to listen to?) The bright colors and cute characters are attractive for someone her age, and the show teaches lessons about sharing, manners, etc. It's also nice that it's a little under the radar and there are not a thousand products I am pressured to buy! Super cute stuff.

) I purchased this dvd for my 3yr old son. He has been watching Ni Hao, Kai-Ian for a few months now since i hooked up satelite tv in his room. At first i didn't know what to think, but on one occassion, my son insisted that i watch an episode with him. To my amazement, I found it quit entertaining. My son seems to enjoy all the stories and has many hours of fun watching this great animation. I would defornately recommend Ni Hao, Kai-Ian to any parents looking to introduce there child to a new form of animation that your child will find fun.

) Great DVD to teach basic Mandarin to kids. Our kids love Kai Lan and the stories are well written to be interactive and teach little lessons (think Dora with a small life-lesson component). I highly recommend Kai Lan!

First of all, I am very picky about what I let my daughter watch since she is only 2 and I do not want her to pick up on bad habits and such. But when it comes to most anything on Nick Jr. I let her watch anything. I, specifically, love Kai-lan because it teaches manners and the bright colors keep her entertained. It is very educational, also. And my little girl has also learnt Chinese words along the way. It is a chinese version of Dora the explorer, to say the least. :) This DVD has over an hour of very cute shows that are very entertaining and educational for any child, of all ages.

I bought this DVD for my 2 1/2 year old son after he watched a bit of it on NickJr website. Now he's even more in LOVE with Kai-lan and her friends. I have to admit that I really enjoy watching it with him (over and over again!!!) A must have for Kai-lan's fans out there!!
