The Greatest Freddy to Date
Created: 17/12/10
"Ready or not... here I come..." :) The serious and dark aspect is genius. I tried enjoying the original, but it was awful to me.. The new Freddy all the way.
Jackie did a marvelous portrayal of Freddy, and I don't see what the fuss is about. Considering the iconic known version Robert Englund gave us all, Jackie indeed had big shoes to fill, and for someone of his size, he did a very good job. The visuals are stunning, so the complaints about the CGI are ridiculous, people always have to whine and complain. A lot of hard work went into this film, and it shows. The sequel will be amazing (If they decide to make one... It would be better if no one compared this to the original, because it has such a different setting, with different characteristics, etc.
If I have to read one more "There is only one Freddy Krueger, and that's Robert Englund!" I am going to be at wits end. I respect him very much, but give Jackie Earle Haley some credit, he is an exceptional actor, and he did his part well.
Many complain how they cannot stand remakes.. then don't watch. I am open to everything, and just because something is a remake, does not mean it is horrible. This is a very satisfying film, though I can admit more could have been added! (We want more Freddy!)And how about those extra deleted scenes that look epic? :)It could pick up and continue in the sequel.
I applaud Jackie, Rooney, Katie, Kyle, and the rest of the cast for their efforts. I do not like harsh criticism, unless no effort was there, and clearly there was plenty. I recommend this movie, give it a shot, it's very well done, and highly entertaining ;)

I think they did a great job on this remake, I didnt know what to expect when I found out robert wasnt going to be in it but jackie did a great job as freddy, I grew up watching all the elm street movies so I was pumped to see what this one was going to bring, I liked how the way they made his burns look more real, also with the back story of him, the actors did a good job, I just wish Kris didnt have to die, she was the best actress through out the whole movie.

not as bad as some people make it out to be

I dont understand why this movie has gotten such a bad rap. Its really not a bad movie if you dont go into it looking to compare it to the original. The original will never be touched. The intention of this movie was to target a whole new audience, and to create a new darker freddy krueger. It accomplished what it intended. People have to stop whining and stop saying "only robert englund is freddy etc etc.." This is NOT the original!! They needed to cast someone new to play freddy and jackie earle haley was the perfect fit! The other actors on the other hand were less then memorable, which is why i give this movie a 3/5 instead of a 4 or 5. I really like the twist of "what if freddy was innocent?" and I really wish he would have turned out to be innocent, beacause it would have truly seperated itself from the original with that alone, and would have made the storyline much deeper as to why freddy is seeking revenge on these kids.

1, 2, Freddy's Coming For You.

First off; if you're looking for a more updated version of the original Nightmare on Elm Street, you won't find it here! While it's the same story and idea, there's a lot less humor and childlike appeal to this remake. Freddy Krueger is a lot more scary and they really amped up the pedophile feeling to him. There's a lot more uncomfortable feelings with Freddy in this movie, and it's definitely scarier (Blood, nightmare, emotion wise).
But, in all honesty, I really love this remake! I think it's a great update to the classic, and it gives a different feeling that's really fun and scary at the same time. The cast was really well done, and the special effects are awesome. They definitely left it open for a sequel, so it'll leave you hanging!
A must-have for fans of Freddy!

Very Disappointing!

We were not at all "impressed" with this re-make of Fredddy "reborn". No acting ability and taking you back to the story line of Krueger the child molester explains the the 'sagging" face! No detail at all like the "original" Freddy as it conforms to the face to the new actor prior to being burned in the fire.
You must watch to form your own opinion as the younger generation who was not born when The Original A Nightmare On Em Street was first introduced in the the 80's. Still the best film made!!
