REALLY nice lens! Brilliant quality photos and great DoF! I especially like the fully manual features of aperture and focus, as I never really trust auto-focus and its so much easier to change the f number on the lens rather than on the camera.

As good a lens as Nikon has ever made, and for a pittance.

This lens is extremely lightweight, but optically similar to the more expensive and heavy Nikkor 50mm f/2. It's only single-coated, but you wouldn't know it by looking at the photographs it takes. Image quality is sharp as a tack from f/2.8 all the way down to f/16. At f/1.8 its performance is fair. It is almost disconcerting having such a small lens on my Nikon F, but the portability means it can be taken in your pocket nearly anywhere. The small focus ring may seem unnatural at first, but the focus is loose, precise, and snappy. A great buy all around, perfect for the lighter, later generation of Nikon manual focus cameras, but if you can find it, go for the Nikkor version, as it is compatible with earlier cameras as well, and with slightly superior optics.

This lens is one of the most crisp lenses you can get at this focal length. Excellent choice for portraits! The all metal body of the "made in Japan" variant has a very nice feel to it and lends itself back to the days of film photography.
I highly recommend this lens for any level portrait photographer.

This Nikon 50mm is perfect for my portrait photography. The lens creates a great depth of field at f1.8.

Not a bad little lens for the price. Just wish it would set to auto focus on the D7000 for the folks in the house that don't like to manually do it. For me it's okay tho.
