Worth The Price.

I bought this scanner because it is a top of the line 35mm film scanner. It is perfect for scanning large quantities of slides or film, and costs less than other Nikon scanners. I had used this scanner previously, and knew that I had to have one, but, this was after Nikon halted production of the Coolscan V ED. Ebay was the only option. Even though the Coolscan V ED auctions for more than it originally sold for, they are worth the price.

Professional scans, witha big learning curve.

So far, my results have been impressive. It seems to be a very well-made professional negative scanner that you can have some fun with. Here are the negatives: Be prepared to spend some time with this thing. As far as I can tell, any decent quality scan requires a good amount of time to complete, upwards of 15 minutes for a four shot negative. As well, the instruction manual is practically useless. This device is highly capable, and offers many impressive features, but learning how to use them is a virtual mystery. You can get help online, but unless you have an innate understanding about this topic, don't expect to jump right in. If you're anything like me, you'll probably spend the majority of your time going back and correcting mistakes from your early scans because nothing was clearly explained. To tell the truth: I'm still not sure if I'm using the best settings to accomplish my goal. Given the time it takes to complete one scan, I'm willing to bet I'm overdoing it with my choice of settings. Don't let it scare you though. This is a nice device. I haven't been able to tear myself away from it since I got it. If anyone out there has some pointers for me, I'd be grateful.

Incredible machine for slides and film !

Nikon slide and film scanners are the most sought after, and if you are even considering buying a "Budget" type scanner, do not use a Nikon (Because nothing really can compare once you've seen what a Nikon can do especially with color restoration, & scratch and dust removal ! )

Film Scanner

I like this scanner because of it's capabilities and the quality of the product. I bought this scanner for its abilities in producing high quality scans of film and slides. The software has been flawless so far and installed quickly with no problems on my MAC. The scanner and software work well together and in an acceptable timeframe.

I bought it to scan a large library of slides. The image quality of the scans that I am getting is excellent. The scanner is a little slower than I would like.
