Nikon Nikkor 50 mm F/1.2 Lens

I bought this lens because it is the best manual focus 50mm lens still made today. Just look at the review by Ken Rockwell (http://www.kenrockwell.com/ni​kon/50mm-f12.htm). The focus ring doesn't feel cheap, too tight, or too loose. It is made like it will be used constantly (and it will). Having 9 aperture blades makes AMAZING sun stars and f/1.2 creates fantastic depth of field. The weight of the lens is somewhat significant but it only means the lens is built out of quality materials and not cheap plastic. The Canon 50mm f/1.2L is basically this lens + autofocus, but costs twice as much. If you're shooting video or simply enjoy manual controls then this lens is perfect and you won't pay for autofocus. I have had absolutely no problems with this lens and just simply can't find anything wrong with it!

The 50mm 1.2 is a great manual focus lens and is better in low light than I even expected after shooting it on a Nikon D80. I haven't any of the other nikon 50mm, but if you want a lens that you know will perform well in low-light and is sharp at f2, pick up one of these.

This is a great low-light lens. It is very versatile. The only down side is that when used indoors without flash, it is a little difficult to get true color. I did not go as high as ISO 1200, however. The only other thing is the manual focus. You get so accustomed to auto-focus that it is easy to forget to focus when shooting rapidly. Regardless, I am glad I bought this discontinued lens.

Have not used it yet.Bough for conversion to canon ef.This lens is going to used for video once the conversion is done.
