Nikon Zoom-Nikkor 18 mm-200 mm F/3.6-5.6 ED VR AF-S DX IF Lens

I wanted this lens to be a good walk-around lens, which it is. The focal range of 18mm to 200mm provides well enough zoom to be used on my camera all the time. It does fault at f/3.5-5.6 aperture because it limits on how well you can shoot in low lighted areas - but it can be corrected by using higher ISO and sacrificing some of the quality to graininess. I was surprised to find that this lens weighed slightly more than my 70mm-300mm lens. It will cause some arm pain and vibrations if you are not used to using a heavy lens. VR technology does help quite a bit in keeping the inside lens steady at the max focal length of 200mm. Overall, its a good bang for a buck and a great zoom lens to own for a lot of normal day-to-day situations.

This is a fantastic walk around lens for the Nikon DX bodies. All lenses have distortions and flaws that are trade-offs in the manufacturing process. With relatively new digital lens profiles in Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom this lens is an outstanding performer for a wide focal length range. I have 2 of these in use full time now. They are both very sharp, and neither have zoom creep. This lens was exactly as if it were new from the camera store.

Excellent zoom lens. With this lens on your camera, you always ready for any situation. I also have the 55-200 Nikon zoom lens. In that range it compares equal as the 18-200.

Not super fast, but with the range it has it replaces 2 or maybe 3 other lenses in the average camera bag. Makes a good walkaround lens and can do limited portraits, wildlife and scenics if you want.

Well worth the money for this lens and with ACR lens corrections can get some great looking prints from it.

Love this lens. Helps me keep it to one camera. when shooting certain things I use to carry around a camera with a wide angle & another with a telephoto. Now it's all here. Great Buy
