) This is a little gem for portrait and outdoor photographing for a film camera. For a DX DSLR cameras, this lens, I believe, is only good for portrait photographing.
The price of this lens is very reasonable. A good used one costs about $100 on eBay, which is at least about half the price of a Nikon 24-85mm/3.5-4.5 G AF-S. Both of these lenses are focusing fast and producing very sharp images as compared to a Nikon 24-85mm/2.8-4 AF lens.
Pros: light weight, reasonably priced, fast focus, sharp images.
Cons: limited zoom range

Lens was purchased to better handle wide angle needs as my main lens is a 35-70 F-2.8 Nikon Zoom. I have only used this new lens for a few pictures on my first roll. These were photo's of a home interior. The 24 mm setting enabled more a better representation and it was easy to make normal shots without a lens change. For my use it will be a very handy lens.

Very good value for money as used.

) Good range ,good sharpness(excellent at f/8) and also it has compact size.I desided to buy one for the very good value for money as used.I would like more macro feature(about 25-30cm).
Great basic lens

I purchased a Nikon D300 with an 18-135mm lens but wanted a basic 50mm lens for standard shooting. This lens fits the bill.
