Product Description
With impressive 3D rendered graphics, Nintendo DS delivers portable games for fans of any genre. Plus, you can play all your favorite Game Boy Advance games in a single-player mode. With Nintendo DS, dual screens and touch-screen technology allow you to interact with games like never before. Wireless communication allows you to experience real-time multiplayer game play, while built-in PictoChat software gives you the power to draw, write and send messages wirelessly. Nintendo DS revolutionizes the way games are played. Two LCD screens offer one of the most groundbreaking game play advances ever developed. Imagine the possibilities. In a racing game, you might see your own vehicle's perspective on one screen and an overall track view on the other. Soon, games could be created allowing you to play games on one screen while sending text messages on the other. The lower screen offers something never before provided by any dedicated game device: touch-screen capabilities. You no longer have to rely on just buttons to move your character or shift perspectives. Navigate menus or access inventory items simply by touching the screen with a stylus or fingertip. The possibilities are limited only by developers' imaginations. The touch screen features a tougher film cover for durability, and the included stylus is stored in the back of the unit.A built-in microphone port means that with Nintendo DS, you only need to tell your games what to do. Developers could create games, which identify everything from voice commands to hand clapping. Imagine moving your characters simply by telling them which way to go! Communication-based games could use the microphone and you can chat with others over a local network, or even the Internet in the future. The Nintendo DS microphone gives you even more ways to interact with your favorite games.Nintendo DS sound capabilities allow for greatly expanded use of voices and music, and a richer, more immersive game experience. Stereo speakers allow for virtual surround sound and a plug for headphones transmits stereo sound. Hear something in your left headphone? Audio clues can give you advance warning that an enemy is approaching or that a hidden secret is nearby. Sound can be one of the most immersive components of any video game, and Nintendo DS delivers big sound in a small package.

Excellent Value

Created: 23/12/10
The Nintendo DS employs innovative dual-screen and microphone-enabled gameplay without load times on a higher-resolution display than Game Boy Advance SP while remaining backward compatible with older GBA games. The inclusion of Wi-Fi multiplayer capabilities and a touch screen allows for a growing list of original and fun games that you can't play on any other system.

While it lacks the multimedia and graphical finesse of the Sony PSP, the feature-packed Nintendo DS is a worthy successor to the Game Boy Advance--but the new and improved DS Lite is available for the same price.

NDS Lite Blue

Created: 30/09/09
There are now 3 versions of the DS system since it's first release. The
DS Lite is the middle aged one, and to be honest... the first DS was great and
all, but the DS Lite simply blew it out of the water! From the sleeker design, to
the better screen (color, brightness, etc.)... the original DS was no comparison
to the Lite version. Now that the DSi has come out (the younger of the 3), you
can't help but feel that the DS Lite is older and to put it in lamest terms:
"Yesterday's News". But this is where you are wrong! The DS Lite is still
holding its ground, and strong! Sure the DSi has the camera, sure it has
capabilities that the DSL does not, but it can also be said about the DSL! For
it is still a valuable system if you own the older GameBoy SP; for it can still
play those games where the DSi does not. So if you are new to the entire Nintendo hand helds, I recommend the DSi, but if you own some SP games, then
by all means, don't let a camera in your way of having 2 systems in 1.

Buy one... You'll love it!

Large fun in a small package!

Created: 25/01/11
Purchased this unit used for a little over half of what a new one would have cost. My 6 year old daughter had to have this because her friend had one, enough said about that. Received the unit to find it was in "like new" condition, it was very easy to get started, basic charge and go. I had not purchased any of the games at this point so it was limited as to what one could do other than simple writing and drawing practices. I was very impressed with the display quality and the many functions. A couple of days later I purchased a "Hello Kitty" game for this unit which my daughter just loves. She and her friend have hours of fun with these as one of it's features is a chat system where they can communicate with one another via wireless built into these units. If you have wifi internet nearby you can also download new games over the internet and communicate with others similar to a PC.

Pros: lite-weight and compact/nice display/ great features

Cons: games can get expensive if buying new

All-in-all was very pleased with this unit and my daughter is happy for now, until the next new gadget comes along.

Reasons why I recommend this game system

Created: 05/02/11
I love that I can play the Game boy Advance games on this system along with the DS games. I bought it to keep myself busy while in waiting rooms, but I find myself playing it just for fun. The battery lasts a long time between recharges. I've had it off the charger for 5 days while turned off, and it was still full strength. Also I've played it for about 15 hours before needing to recharge it. The screen is a little small compared to the new model game systems, but you can see it clearly and the graphics are fine. Here are some reasons why I recommend this system: The DS Lite is lighter weight and thinner then the original DS. It is portable, and it fits into a large pocket or a purse. The buttons are easy to reach, even a child's hands should be able to reach the buttons. You can set the screen brightness to dim or bright with 4 different settings. And the older games are much less expensive to buy. I don't spend a lot of money on myself, but I am glad I bought this system. It was worth the money and I am very happy with it.

GBA and DS Games!

Created: 28/06/09
Great system, two in one! (Sort of) Game Boy Advanced games, and Nintendo DS. It's a shame they discontinued the white ones. I really don't have anything negative to say, but I am not an avid gamer. WAAAAY smaller than the original DS, that's a great innovation, the DSi is much smaller, but the camera feature is okay, I mean it's almost as good as a 2.-something megapixel camera, so I'd stick with the DS lite.
