Wonderful Way to pass time in deer stand with husband
Created: 14/01/10
This is a learning experience for me. Occassionally I go to the box deer stand with my husband and needless to say I was bored to death. He has a gameboy that I gave him several years ago when he had back surgery and he would play Tetris (sp)to pass the time. I decided to get one for myself and unfortunately you cannot buy these in the store, only something really fancy that you can get on the internet with and I don't know what else. So I checked e-bay and here they are. I really like this one because it folds up and you can easily slip it in a pocket. Has color, a good screen that even someone like me with horrible eyesight can easily see and is very easy to use. I just have to find games that I will like beside Tetris. One thing you need to be aware of is when you buy games be sure to buy ones with instruction books or if you buy a gameboy and games come with it but no books you can buy them elsewhere. Maybe you can figure out how to play without the books but I am 72+ and need the books. I highly recommend this Gameboy. Oh one last thing. I gave one to my Granddaughter 3 or 4 years ago, her older brother was using it and left it in his pants pocket. His other grandmother washed the pants without checking pockets so the gameboy went through the washer and dryer. Needless to say it would not work at first but I put it on the kitchen counter to see what would happen when it really did dry out completely. End of story, after a couple of days it came back to life as good as new and is still working. I don't recommend washing one but I do know of one that was none the worse for the trip in washer and dryer.
Gameboy advance can play games made for the older Gameboy so that is a real advantage if you know someone that has that type games. The older GB's cannot play games for GBA or sometimes called Game Boy Advance Special. You can go backwards as far as using games with GBA but with the first or second generation Game Boys you cannot play the newer type games.
Well this is far more than you ever wanted to know but if you have a lot of waiting, doctors office, hospital waiting room, deer stand, in the car on a long trip anything where you need to pass the time - this is for you. Also they tell me playing with these games will keep your mind sharp. Must say I'm still waiting for that to happen but then maybe mine is too far gone to be helped. cjwd

Nintendo Game Boy Advance SP - Handheld game system - p

I love this handheld system. It is a thousand times brighter than the regular gameboy advance. With it's neat color it looks cool for any child of yours.
With the ability to fold, it takes up less space than the game boy advance.
Go to www.amazon. com for fantastic reviews. They have a lot more information, there, than Ebay.
I woul definately reccomend this other than the regular advance. Pay a little more for this for a BIG difference.
You can only buy game boy advance and Gameboy Advance Sp games for this Nintendo Ds games DO NOT WORK. I repeat NINTENDO DS GAMES DO NOT WORK!!! Don't even try! The slot is too, big.
I also reccomend getting a Ds because you can play both kinds of games!!!
Comes in diiferent colors, so if you have a daughter who prefers pink I reccomend buying the pink one (or you can buy this one cheaper and then buying a pink face plate! MUCH CHEAPER!!!!)

What wouldn't I recomend from Nintendo? Give me a minute,..........I am thinking,............Hmmm.
How could one resist Mario and friends. Now availible on Micro, Game boy Advance SP, and Game boy advance. I bought the SP and the Micro for the games, and the ablility to play the games that I like on a screen that I can actually see.
The screen on SP is very visible and easy to play a game on, where as the screen on Micro is small, but very bright. The contols on SP are perfect in size, and, sometimes I have trouble with the controls on Micro, because they are a little small.
How does GBA SP and Micro rate in comparison to PSP. In my opinion, it is like comparing apples to peaches. Although they both are designed to play games, and the controls are very similar, they are still two very different products.
Pros and cons :
* Psp can play movies on both UMD and Sony Memory Stick Duo, provided that the video file is converted to be used with PSP, using special software. ( Video 9 is offered free on line. )
* Nintendo can play movies, but they must be converted to a special file with special software. ( it is often offered with the movie player. )
* Psp has a memory expansion slot ( for Sony Memory Stick Duo )
* GBA and Micro only have a memory expansion slot for SD cards, if the movie player cartrige is purchased.
* Psp displays photos
* GBA and Micro only display photos if the movie cartrige is purchased
* PSP offers wifi access at hotspots
* GBA and Micro do not have a wifi card built in.
* PSP has a great big beautiful screen
* GBA has a nice screen. Micro has a small but bright screen.
* Psp slim = 150.00 to 200.00 Psp 1000 = 100.00 - 200.00 without accessories other than the charger, ( and that is used. )
* GBA = 40.00 - 150, both new and used, Micro 40.00 - 200.00 sometimes with accessories.
* Psp offers a few different colors
* GBA and Micro come in many colors
* Psp does't have any of the Mario Brothers or Donkey Kong games
* GBA and Micro are compatable with most of the Mario and Donkey kong games.
* Psp can be connected to the Tv ( 2000 model only )
Sony is a great product for several things, gaming being one of them, but not considered primary. The games take a couple of minutes to load, which can be very frustrating. However, I do enjoy the UMD movie feature, having wifi access, and having a neat device to store my videos, and photos.
Game Boy Advance SP is for playing games, and, playing games. I know that some people think they want an all in one product, it sounds great. However, the problem with all in one products is that, they are designed to do all, but not one, thing realy well. GBA SP may be a little old, but it is still a great portable gaming console, made to only play games, and play them well.
What would I change about SP? I would add an AV feature so that I could play Super Mario Brothers on tv, and, I would create a cartrige that allows for me to play DS games on SP. Other than those two things, I think that both GBA SP and Micro are fabulous products.

Gameboy Advance SP - Platinum
Created: 14/02/07
The GBA SP system is an excellent handheld system. It plays both Gameboy color and GB Advance games. I still have my SP even after getting a DS and on occasion will still bust out my SP to kick it oldschool with a GB Color game.
If your looking for a system for a child that tends to break things, right here is your system. Nintendo still releases new games on the SP. In fact, many of the games that are released for the DS have a GBA version as well, not all though.
The SP has a rather extensive library of games all at a reasonable price (something that can't be said for the competition...) that children of ALL ages can enjoy and add to that the fact that you can buy GB Color games for this bad boy and you've just doubled the gaming library. Nintendo doesn't seem to be dropping the SP any time soon, new games keep on coming.
This is a good investment for those who don't want to shell out over a $100 bucks for a DS. Though I'd recommend the DS, the SP is still alive and kicking!

I own 3 of the Gameboy SP's and love them. I initially bought them for my 4 yr old twins for long car rides. My oldest son (14) wanted one so I bought the third. Now my husband and I will be buying some for us as well. There are connectors so you can game with others. The fact that you can play all the old Gameboy color, advance and sp games gives you hundreds of titles to choose from and the prices are very reasonable on ebay especially when sold in lots. You can purchase little kids games like Finding Nemo to adult themed games. The best part is you get to play all the Mario Bros titles that I always loved on the original Nintendo NES. Well worth the small investment and items can always be resold when you're through.
