Product Description
The Nintendo GameCube focuses on gameplay and is "the ultimate TV game machine and the first of its kind." Nintendo GameCube was created with the purpose of realizing the highest level of performance and to enhance the productivity of software development. Instead of going for the highest possible performance, which does not contribute to software development, Nintendo decided to create a developer-friendly next generation TV game machine that maintained above-standard capabilities. In order to accomplish this, designers have painstakingly removed the "bottlenecks", which hinder an efficient system. They have introduced 1T-RAM technology, which has a minimum of delays, into the main memory and the Graphics LSI Mixed Memory. Also, secondary cache memory with a large capacity was implemented in the MPU. With this combination Nintendo has succeeded at creating reliable functionality that can be used with actual games.Nintendo has been creating a world in which the player can enjoy the feeling of actually touching the "world" created by the software. In addition, the player can benefit by building a bond with the game and characters in it. The Nintendo GameCube carries on the "DNA" of Nintendo games and gives birth to a new kind of entertainment that surpasses existing concepts of what great gaming is.

Nintendo GameCube

Created: 30/10/10
The GameCube was like the last wheel of the wagon in the past console generation, but the GC wasn't a bad console. No at all...

The technical specs of the GC are higher than the PS2, but the lack of third party games hurt very much the presence of the GC in the market, unlike the PS2 with the strong 3rd party support, in special the fall - winter of 2001 which very popular games like Metal Gear Solid 2, Silent Hill, Devil May Cry and other popular titles came for the PS2.

Overall the GC was push away, but still there is good games for the GC like the Resident Evil series, the MGS remake, the Nintendo games and some other games. The GC with video component out was a plus, but it was eliminated in 2004. The Gamecube is a essential piece for those that collect videogames consoles.

GameCube's still got it!

Created: 29/07/09
The newest system I had before purchasing my used GameCube this year was an N64! The years following elementary school, my parents didn't buy my siblings and I new consoles, so we would play at our friend's houses and be awed by the cool graphics, new memory card system, and tiny discs the games had become.

Although I like the novelty of cartridge games, the GameCube is extremely portable, with a mini CD holder and a grab of the console's handle, you're on your way.

There is a good selection of games. For Nintendo, quality definitely stands above quantity, and the range of games for the system definitely stand above other systems of its generation in terms of uniqueness, innovation, and game play styles.

If you never bothered getting your hands on the system and can't afford a Wii, I suggest buying a used GameCube for around $20 (+shipping) on ebay. You can definitely find a good deal and great games for a bargain!

I love my Gamecube

Created: 11/12/09
Gamecube was superseded by Nintendo Wii practically replacing any need for the console. However, for those of us on a budget, the Gamecube has a large enough game base and that if you can go without the latest and can give up the wiimote controller, it is about 10-20% cheaper than the next-gen wii.

Aside from a small number of early versions of the console, the gamecube only outputs A/V in RCA. This, along with corded controllers and lack of usb support, is probably the most noticeable sign of its "archaic" design of the early 2000's. However, I would say it doesn't make the gameplay nor the experience any less fun.

Best Console!

Created: 23/12/10
The Gamecube is a great console. Not only is it a classic but it entertains people of all ages. With a wide variety of game types including Mario, Pokemon and Metroid, the Gamecube is a guaranteed surefire hit with your kids. The Gamecube is a great starter console for people looking for a gaming experience. Although it has no online play it makes up for with fantastic single-player games that can keep you glued for hours.

Great lil console

Created: 24/05/10
PRO's - small design with an odd looking handle for... carrying it i guess.
x4 player support, wide range of E rated games, but a few mature ones.
controller is easy to adapt into, though odd feeling at times. has the same RUMBLE effect as a Ps2-Ps3-and Xbox 360 controllers. All I'm saying is, loved it from the moment i took my little brother to gamestop and saw all the options.

CON's - 1) feels a tad bit rickety. 2) its very easy to loose MP3's you know :(
3) no cordless controllers, 4) 64mb video ram VS xbox 360's 256mb (less graphic eye-candy). but this is to be expected on an older system.

Other thoughts - if you own GBA sapphire, emerald, ruby, fired, or leafgreen. pokemon games, then buy two GBA to gamecube link cables, and pokemon XD, or Colosseum, as both will allow a much wider view of battle scenes and full 360 degree view of your GBA imported pokemon in battle. I've also heard that Kingdom Hearts has the same functionality, not sure though. most of the games and gaming equipment are compatible with the Nintendo Wii. THIS IS A GREAT FAMILY GAME CONSOLE.
