Movie synopsis

This made-for-cable series is set in the flashy world of South Beach, Miami, where looking good is a full-time profession. Sean McNamara (Dylan Walsh) and Christian Troy (Julian McMahon) are plastic surgeons. Sean is married to Julia (Joely Richardson) and has a conscience when it comes to his job, while Christian is willing to lie to get a woman into bed and onto the surgery table. Although they've been partners for years, their opposing ethical stances, as well as Christian's desire for Julia, keep the dramatic tension bristling. Contains all thirteen episodes from the show's first season.

A disturbingly perfect drama

Created: 24/04/11
Beauty, the saying goes, is only skin deep. The beauty of Nip/Tuck is that it goes deeper, laying bear the complexities and fragile natures often found in patients seeking cosmetic surgery. Dylan Walsh and Julian McMahon portray hotshot Miami South Beach plastic surgeons who are themselves in full-blown midlife crises as they confront career, family and romance problems. The series' cutting-edge stories range from funny to suspenseful to uncommonly powerful. The surgeries are graphically bold. The sexuality is rampant.

Wow - Nip/Tuck is a ride and its a great one

Created: 22/09/05
Addictively fascinating show... I watched the first season on DVD without having seen a single episode or reading / hearing anything about it - my only introduction was a simple recommendation. Within a week I had finished the season and enjoyed every minute of it.

Sean McNamara (Dylan Walsh) and Christian Troy (Julian McMahon) are partners at a plastic surgery practice out of South Beach Miami. And while plastic surgery is part of the show... its really just a backlay for the conflict, backstabbing, sex and other conflicts / episodes that occur within the intermingled lives of the doctors, their families, and their patients.

The mostly unknown cast is surprisingly adept and does an outstanding job portraying such a spectrum of emotions and issues. And while the characters and situations are certainly over the top - the show is compelling enough and interesting enough to keep your attention and keep you engaged. Part of that comes from fine acting, some from the great visuals (though often gory and graphic) and much from the directing. What separates Nip/Tuck from other dramatic series is its humor - albeit dark humor. Nip/Tuck is surprisingly funny and sarcastic - poking fun at the patients who 'need' such operations and the doctors who willingly (and self-motivating-ly) perform them.

Highly recommended - once you start watching, you'll quickly finish the season. If movies and television were meant to entertain - this does a fine job.

Disc One: pilot, "Mandi/Randi" and "Nanette Babcock"
Disc Two: "Sophia Lopez," "Kurt Dempsey" and "Megan O'Hara"
Disc Three: "Cliff Mantegna," "Cara Fitzgerald" and "Sophia Lopez II"
Disc Four: "Adelle Coffin," "Montana/Sassy/Justice&quot; and "Antonia Ramos"
Disc Five: "Escobar Gallardo"

There are extras on each DVD as well

Nip/Tuck: The Complete First Season (2004, DVD)

Created: 04/06/06
I purchased the first Season of Nip/Tuck on Ebay for approximately $25. I did not see any episodes of this series prior to purchasing the first season on DVD. I decided to buy this show on a strong recommendation from a friend.

I often buy complete seasons of popular shows and watch them start to finish in a couple of days. I must say that I watched the first episode of Nip/Tuck more than a week ago and have not felt compelled to watch any of the remaining episodes. This show is not suitable for the squimish or those easily offended by adult content. This is definitely not family programming. A description from the back of the packaging follows below.

I hope you find this review useful.

Presented in 12 first-season episodes on 5 discs and featuring compelling extras, the highly praised Nip/Tuck is a prescription for entertainment unlike anything you've ever seen.

Nip/Tuck Season One Review

Created: 28/04/10
I was around when this series came out but thought it too graphic or uninteresting. But one evening while I was cruising through cable on demand free episodes viewing page I saw that about 6 episodes from the 6th season were available to watch for free so I said "why not?" Boy was I wrong about this series! It is a story about two plastic surgeons in Miami and the events surrounding their lives, practice, and relationships. It is fascinating, the story lines constantly changing, and the laeding men, especially Christian handsome. So I became an addict. So far I have purchased through EBay the first 4 seasons, and am waiting on season 5, and season 6. Thank God for EBay because the complete seasons at retail are very expensive and I was able to get them affordably on EBay. The series is graphic with plastic surgery scenes and Christian, one of the surgeons whom this series is based, is a confirmed bachelor with many conquests of women, so to speak, and can become not graphic that way, but you certainly know. I would not recommend children watching, adults only. But it is a great series, episodes can be a little mind bending, I have been teary eyed, and thrilled. In two days I watched seasons one and two, I could not tear myself away from it wondering what's going to happen next. I hope there is a season 7, as I happened to watch the last episode from season 6, and it was clear that it was the ending, but perhaps a new beginning in season 7 with a completely different format. Can't wait to find out.
