Very honest, very well written. The author sums up his opinions and travel experiences in fact the essence of travel itself very nicely. Short, inside soundbites from select episodes make it a quick, easy read. Satisfies the craving for some fresh Bourdain perspective.

The book's collection has some beautiful, inspiring portraits that stand-alone. And illustrates some not too pretty scenarios of the traveler's vulnerability. Apart from the production focus on the TV series, Bourdain communicates and justifies quite simply the importance food should have in travel. Encouragement is offered for seeking out its delights, even providing clues to survive the discomforts of such foreign gastronomic adventures. It's a recommendable, entertaining book not only for fans but also the aspiring traveler as well.

If you love the show you will love the book .Bourdain really is one of a kind . Everyone gets to see the stuffy classic chefs . But have you ever really worked in a kitchen ? Being in the food business myself for almost 20 years ther is either fantisy or then there in Anthony Bourdain . Most of the place I heve worked , what we do when the big guys aren't there is closer to what Anthony Bordain does all the time . You gotta love him !!

My Favorite 'Bad Boy' Cook

I cook for a living and it's like no other profession...you do it more for the personal satisfaction than the money. Anthony Bourdains style of living and writing describes the way a lot of us in this crazy business feel. Ever since 'Kitchen Confidential' he's been my fav writer...if you have ever dreamed of being in a commercial kitchen or wondered what being on 'the line' is like his writings are a 'must' read.

This book is great! The culture is just so different from place to place. You actually get to see how they eat and how they prepare foods.... amoung a few other things that don't include food at all. This book is just so fascinating to me! I would seriously recommend this to a friend :-)
