    Synopsis
In this New York Times bestseller, a man races against time to save his child. Plastic surgeon Marc Seidman wakes up in a hospital after nearly two weeks of being unconscious. He learns that he has been shot, his wife has been killed, and his infant daughter Tara is missing. He has a tough time convincing the police that he isn't the one responsible, especially because Marc can't remember the events of the shooting. A clue to his daughter's disappearance comes in the form of a ransom note, which demands that Marc pay Tara's kidnappers two million dollars without alerting the authorities. If he fails to follow instructions in every particular, the note warns, there will be "no second chance."

    A really really good thriller

    Created: 01/08/06
At the beginning of the book, a doctor is critically injured in an apparent break-in, his wife is killed, and their six month old is missing. Then a ransom note arrives and the doctor, who had flatlined but then survived, goes to the drop off which goes awry. The title of the book refers to his quest for a second chance at recovering his kidnapped child. If you've read the works of Harlan Coben, this is among the great ones. It is extremely engaging, surprising, and immensely clever. It was a true "page-turner" - just wonderful.

    No Second Chance

The story started off interesting, but then it slowed down to a crawl. A baby is kidnapped and not s"een for eighteen months. There are two really good "twists and turns toward the end which was surprising, but I was disappointed in the whole book. This is the only book that I will probably read by this author since there are better suspense writers than Coben.

    A good read. Well researched.

Harlan Coben is usually a good writer with good suspense. His books are usually well researched and I like that. I often try a new writer, but I almost always buy a Harlan Coben book. Toward the end I literally couldn't put the book down and stayed up late finishing it.

Great mystery. Plenty of twists & turns in the plot. This author deserves more recognition. I will certainly be buying more of his books.
