    Album Notes
Whereas previous installments of the Now That's What I Call Music series attempted to recap the previous six months of the American pop charts, the 15th volume is a snapshot of the current pop scene as of March 23, 2004, containing several singles that were still climbing the charts, or at least still gaining significant radio play. There's a handful of good singles scattered throughout the record -- No Doubt's "It's My Life" is a fine new wave cover, Sheryl Crow's "The First Cut Is the Deepest" is fine, Norah Jones' "Sunrise" is pleasant, Sarah Connor's "Bounce" is infectious, and Britney Spears' "Toxic" is deliriously catchy, one of her best singles. As always, the Now series is good at capturing one moment in time. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

Another effort for the "Now That's What I Call Music" people. It highlights the most popular songs from radio stations and clubs for about a 6 month period. The CD boasts a range of music genre's from Rap/Hip Hop to Alternative Rock to Country. The Cd features Club hits like: "Holidae Inn" by Chingy, "Gigolo" by Nick Cannon and No Doubt doing the song "It's my Life" (which was a club hit in the 80's for the band Talk Talk). The CD also features such artists as Norah Jones, Jessica Simpson and Sheryl Crow. Also featured are Alternative efforts by Blink 182 and Good Charlotte. A good CD for DJ's or anyone who may want to obtain the hot artists of the day without spending a fortune on individual CDs or downloads.

In these uncertain economic times, there's no better way to sift through the Top 40 without racking up huge bills at your local record shop than by picking up Now That's What I Call Music! Vol. 15. This ongoing series, now in its sixth year on our shores, allows listeners to indulge in their own guilty musical pleasures, without having commitment issues. Fans can revel in the breathy lyrics of Gwen Stefani as No Doubt revisits the 80s with their frothy cover of Talk Talk's "It's My Life," then witness pop devouring itself, as Britney Spears resolutely sheds the last vestiges of her coy good girl posturing and bears her perfect musical teeth on the aerobic yet seditious "Toxic." Ludacris makes two appearances on this 20-song collection, once on "Stand Up," his smart, sexy, and slightly menacing duet with Shawnna, and then to lesser effect with his one-time protégée Chingy on the rather laconic and badly mangled "Holidae In." Instead best in show goes to "Gangsta Nation" by rap supergroup Westside Connection featuring Nate Dogg. The combination of that anxious insinuating organ and Dogg's finely honed cultural witticism is irresistible.

I buy thses for my son

    Created: 06/04/07
I have a son who is in his 20's and has Down Syndrome. He likes to visit Ebay with me and find music to buy. I like the NOW That's What I Call Music series because they provide him with the best and most recognizable songs of a particular time period. I like them for myself too, since they are much more listenable than some of the Hip Hop stuff that he tends towards. The CD's have all been in good shape and a reasonable price.
