Odyssey White Hot XG5 Center Shafted Putter
Created: 08/10/06
I am a 7 handicap golfer from Baton Rouge Louisiana, I used to be about a 10 handicap. About a year ago I tried out center shafted putters. They seem to be much easier to square up at address, really gives you confidence. I purchased the XG5 putter from Edwin Watts for $119.00 plus tax. I went with Odyssey because they are the #1 putter in golf and I don't like to settle for second best as long as I can still play this game. The XG models have the textured impact zone for a soft feel off of the face which gets the ball rolling quickly. The white steel models are more firm in the impact area. Either way you go the Odyssey's are the best bet for me. These are truely very well built putters. Randall

Odyssey White Steel 5 Putter Golf Club

I'm really satisfied with the Odyssey White Steel #5 putter. It has a better feel that I had anticipated and the putts roll true off of the face. A friend of mine has an Odyssey White Hot #5, and I liked the way it looked when addressing the ball so I tried the White Steel #5 at the Pro Shop where I play. I liked the feel of the ball coming of the face of the White Steel #5 better that the White Hot #5, so I decided to buy the White Steel #5. Of all the equipment I've bought in the eight years I've been playing golf, this was by far the best decision that I have made for a golf club.

Better than I thought!

I was looking at the top-rated Odyssey White Hot 2-ball putter and tried it out. A bit too hot at impact, at least for me. It felt like I don't get a good feel for the ball, though it gives you confidence that the ball will get there on long putts. Then I tried the White Steel 5 and it just felt right. Enough bounce off the putter face at impact but you can still feel the ball, solid and rolls very nicely. If I can only reach the greens more often... I shoot in the 80's and high 70's on a good day. And this putter helps my score low. Just plain confidence when you're about to use it.

Odyssey White Steel Putter #5

This model is several gens old but has the best feel off the face. The steel insert give is a firm sound and the mallet style gives a solid roll. The grip needs an upgrade but all in all I like this style better than the newer White Ice putters. i have them all.

Odessey makes THE best putters.

The #5 mallet, White Steel putter was exactly what I was expecting. Excellent weight distribution. Alighnment lines are clearly visible, though not overwhelming so as to be a distraction. Mis-hits still went along the target line. Feel and feedback from the steel insert was very good.
It was my first Odessey putter and I guarantee it won't be the last.
