Movie synopsis

This geeky 1999 office comedy starring Ron Livingston as a corporate Everyman instantly gained cult status for its unabashed caricatures of office personalities, and its theme of corporate sabotage. Peter Gibbons (Livingston) is a typical middle manager living a mundane life amid a gray maze of cubicles. Everything in his life reeks of mediocrity, from the mid-size car he drives to the chain restaurant, Chotchky's (read: TGI Friday's), where he eats lunch every day. Even his apartment, a cookie-cutter duplex with walls so thin that he can chat with his next-door neighborhood through the plaster, is totally lacking in personality. The company where he works is peppered with ambitionless drones who blindly comply with the condescending requests made of them by their Porsche-driving CEO (Gary Cole). Then one day, Gibbons snaps. As a team of experts is brought in to enact large-scale layoffs, Gibbons simply stops trying and adopts an attitude of total disinterest. That is, he's only interested in dating the blond waitress (Jennifer Anniston) at the local restaurant, and putting in place a devilish scheme for some corporate payback.OFFICE SPACE's writer-director Mike Judge (BEAVIS AND BUTT-HEAD), scares up some A-list laughs with this film, while also making an excellent parody of corporate culture. Released just as the dot-com boom began to go bust, with massive trends in corporate downsizing on the horizon, it could not have been better timed. Thus, while viewers will delight in the absurdity of the ultimate office loser Milton (Stephen Root), they will also identify with some frighteningly realistic aspects of the film.

A True Classic of the American Workplace

Created: 11/05/07
This has to be one of the best sendups of the Hell of Cubicles that I have ever seen. Mike Judge (Beavis & Butthead, King of the Hill) hits it right on the head in this laugh-out-loud dark comedy about the American corporate workplace. Mindless drones in a software company march quietly and desperately to their deaths or next jobs without a clue or a hope in the world that their situation can change - until one employee is hypnotized and doesn't care anymore... so much so that the corporate geeks notice and promote him!
Milton the Man Who Doesn't Know He's Been Layed Off For Five Years is GREAT as the Red Swingline Stapler guy. I keep watching this one over and over and don't tire of seeing all my fellow co-workers at every place I've been in the past! You'll be laughing about TPS reports, Red Thwingline Thtaplers, evil copy machines, and Michael Bolton for many years to come!

A must see movie for anyone working in an office and/or a cubicle. Best performance for Jennifer Annisted. She gets the comedy across without telling jokes and acting silly. Her unbelieveable composure to the way others think about things makes it even funnier. Would not have been quite as funny without Jennifer Annisted. The whole FLAIR thing shows us that not just offices deal with politics of the workplaces. The red stapler guys really adds humor to the whole Office Worker Attitude....Swingline Staplers rule!!! There is no substitution!!! Hard to do any office work without your Swingline Stapler. Great Comedy and recommended for all office workers to see. A copy is being passes around our office with joy at this time.

Hilarious Comedy That Will Have You LOL for sure!

Created: 21/11/07
Ever have a BAD day at work??? Of course! We all have! Join Peter Gibbons & his two buddies in this hilarious comedy that anyone who has ever felt unappreciated at work can relate to!

It is centered around an office job but I think everyone who has not liked their job or their boss can find humor in it.

After finding out that his two best buds are going to be laid off at work, Peter Gibbons & his friends decide that they are going to have the last laugh by ripping off the company for a lot of money via a computer virus.

Filled with humorous, unique characters...a descripton alone could not probably define the laughs you will share after seeing this movie!

I love this movie that is why I bought it, it has some scenes that I wish weren't in there (with nudity) but all in all it is awesome. I had to get it cause I work in an office and I have to watch the movie every now and then just to know I am not the only one living in this crap sometimes. So funny and just a good time!! Just give them your O face that is all I have to say!

Ever had a BAD day at the office? Watch this movie!

This is the perfect movie for all the "Cubicle People" out there! If you work at a job where NOTHING you do is ever appreciated and you have a Boss that is a complete ASS, this is the movie for you! See the movie about what all of us wish we could do atleast once in our lives. Funny from beginning til the end. Can't go wrong with this movie as long as you plan on laughing your butt off and you'll never view a Swingline stapler the same!
