Operation Pacific

John Wayne is the first officer of the submarine Thunderfish. When he and
ex wife Patricia Neal meet again after the war starts and being divorced for
4 years, they both try to recapture that old love they had together. But
when Wayne embarks on a mission, his best friends younger brother goes after
Neal (who is a nurse in the movie). Wayne and Thunderfish find their mission
complicated by numerous problems - including dud torpedoes - as they hunt
for targets. Ward Bond plays the captain, Pop Perry, of the Thunderfish and
gives a great co-starring effort. While this movie is not one of Waynes
top movies, it may be the change of directors from John Ford to George Waggner
had something to do with taking out some of the fight from the Duke and making
things more romantic in this flix. A good amount of action remains however,
and will satisfy most lovers of action, or classic war action. A good-but
not great movie - as Waynes movie rate, but will fill a night with entertainment nevertheless.

John Wayne At HIs Finest

 | Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

I bought this because I am a big fan of JOhn Wayne, and it was on my list of John Wayne Movies to Add to my collection

It was largely historically accurate. and plenty of action and the right touch of humour in the course of the human condition. With Patricia O'niel asd his love interest who also had rolls in a couple of other John wayne flims. It compares well with others of john waynes earlier work. Also

For the this genre it is quite good. It also compares well with that era of pictures. I would definitely recommend this to any die hard John wayne action fan.
