    Album Notes
Personnel: Emilie Autumn (vocals).Audio Mixer: Inkydust.Despite not being exactly a household name, Emilie Autumn's musical résumé will be pretty darn impressive to the average alt-rock fan, as she has been involved in past projects with the likes of Courtney Love and Billy Corgan. Autumn's style incorporates quite a few contrasting elements, including cabaret, electronic, symphonic, new age, and good ol' rock & roll (and heavy on the theatrical bombast). On her fourth release overall, 2006's Opheliac, Autumn's varied approach is dutifully on display throughout. It's easy to detect similarities at times between Autumn and such renowned female artists as Kate Bush and Tori Amos (especially on such tracks as "Swallow" and "The Art of Suicide"), but when you come across the electronic/symphonic "Gothic Lolita" and the swirling "Let the Record Show," Autumn sheds her influences and finds her own original voice. Opheliac will certainly not be construed as Top 40 music, but what it does manage being is a true -- and ofttimes, an original -- artistic statement. ~ Greg Prato

    Emilie Autumn Opheliac

i absolutely LOVE this CD, it is probably one of my top 5 favorites ever, though i realize i have strange tastes.

emilie's style is quite unlike any other band that i know of. she calls it "victoriandustrial" which is a pretty accurate description of the new sub-genre- a mix of classic music styles, and cyber/industrial/darkwave. she's incredibly talented, her singing is unique, like a melodramatic cabaret style. she also plays the violin, synths, and piano in this. the lyrics are unconventional, intelligent and dry (in a good way) which are traits that are hard to find with female lyricists sometimes.
my complaints are that she has a tendency to repeat the same line over and over in a song (try listening to "god help me" now) and that she has a lot of tracks in her CD's that are just poems or not-so-awesome mixes, or other things that i just skip over. this collection is the best of her work i think, the first CD is all music, but only the first half of the second CD is worth transferring to your iPod.

you can sample some of her music at emilieautumn.com. i suggest you do this first, to see if you like it, because, again, while i love her music, its not for everyone.
if you like THE DRESDEN DOLLS/AMANDA PALMER, REVUE NOIR/NICKI JAINE, RASPUTINA, JACK OFF JILL, VOLTAIRE, or HOLE, you'll probably like this CD. another thing i've noticed is that people who like the clothing brand LIP SERVICE tend to like her music. similar style, different medium, i guess? this is at least true of me, a few of my friends, and several girls i know from clubs, but so far the association's been uncanny.

    What More Do you Need?

    Created: 29/10/10
This album has everything in it! From the well played instruments and Emilie's signature violin, well thought out lyrics. She is giving the audience a deep message with her old Victorian ways and the modern twist she puts into it. From the melancholy ballad of "The Art Of Suicide" to the smash hit "Misery Love's Company" she puts all artistic virtues of front. Quoting Hamlet in "Opheliac" if you're someone who likes vintage and rock and somewhat melancholy depressive then you will love this album.

    Wonderful Album

    Created: 26/04/10
Ok, so I had heard all of the songs before on Youtube, and they were amazing, and had been a huge fan of Emilie Autumn's for awhile. So I finally decided to buy the album, and it's just amazing. It had some stuff that I hadn't heard before, and I loved the artwork, and overall I am just amazed at how amazing Emilie Autumn is and how mesmerizing her voice is. I love this album, I highly recommend this.

I've been a fan of Emilie Autumn for a good couple of years now, but I've never been able to find one of her albums here so I was super excited to receive this after I bought it. And let me tell you I wasn't disappointed.

Emilie Autumn is a very unique musician, with a unique style.
Interested in trying something a little out of the ordinary, listen to Emilie Autumn.

    kind of a let down

    Created: 04/10/10
Disc is kind of a let down after seeing her shows live. Not nearly as entertaining :( Feels like she is singing because she has to, theres no emotion in her voice. My advice, hold out for a live album and go see her live. I promise its a show of a lifetime!
