Very practical for what its deigned to do and more

Created: 07/11/10
I got mine for $45 + $15 ship new unopen, For the price $60 brand new on ebay is well worth the deal, but I personally would not pay more than that for another unless I upgrade to atc3k or better. Works great for video but not for sound as you can bearly hear anything. Can be used on your bike, skiing, swimming, etc. and holds up well. Easy to attach to a window visor to record your driving. If you have a well lit room or use a motion detector to light up room it is very easy to hide to watch the maid, babysitter, snoopy guests, etc. I keep finding a lot of great uses for this where other cameras are not practical. Batteries last a long time, 2gb SD card seems to be enough for my needs for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Very durable with a very nice clean full color picture quality.
Only drawbacks are the bottons are hard to push to turn on and off and the dinky menu diagrams are too small to read what does what. Easy to hook up to a tv but for your computer you have to format a seperate file to run on fat16 because it says it wont upload to a fat32 file. If you get one used try to ask for the instructions for the fat16 file setup. Low light works but you lose color and clarity. I read in reviews below 30 degrees is a challenge for this camera so they suggest using lithium batteries for best performance. Reviews also mention very durable but not bullet proof so you gotta try to be reasonable about the punishment you dishout. Also I noticed some slight very minor pauses between frames but at 32 frames per second is expected to see that and hardly noticable when you playback.
Bottom line: I rated as average because sound quality is not good and hard to push bottons, otherwise it it will perform what it was designed to do and a little more plus its compact size makes it very practical where other brands require added accessories that overall will cost a bunch more. If you dont pay too much for this you should be satisfied. But if your picky for premium picture quaility and has sound then save up and get something better than ATC3K.

Perfect little cam for filming my bike rides.

Created: 03/04/09
I use this camera mounted on my motorcycle. I share the movies on facebook and my website, so the resolution is perfect (on the highest setting). If the resolution were any higher, they would take much too long to convert into flash and upload onto the net, AND since the net has limitations on what can be displayed the images come out perfect. Plus, I got this for $70 (USED) here on eBay and it was worth every penny.

If you upgrade to a 2GB memory stick, make sure you re-format it to the FAT format (not FAT32 or NTFS) otherwise your movies will be cut short at 5 minutes or not work at all. The only downfalls are that the audio is overwhelmed by wind noise at highway speed (normal for most cams) and the quality is poor in low light conditions (going through tunnels, indoors, etc.).

Overall, very happy with this camera.

Mediocre at Best

Created: 06/09/09
This product offers mixed results. It's ok for the budget minded and for use outside in daylight but has poor video in dimm lighting. You also tend to see jagged edges specially on vertical objects such as poles. You'll need to use lithium batteries. Alkalines just don't last. When I tested the battery's longevity it was like this: One 1 min video, one 40 sec video and one 12.5 min video. After this the battery was dead. Rechargeables might probably last less so you might want to have several pairs of backups. The mounting options are good, you have for helmet and handle bar. The LCD display is hard to see, you're better off being a cyclops with a flashlight to be able to look at it well.

Overall this cam is ok as a backup but don't expect too much from it. I suggest aiming for a Go Pro Hero Wide and a Contour HD for your footage.

Great camera for it's intended use and price!

This is a very compact, light weight cam that is very easy to use. I mounted it on the handle bars of my ATV so I could share my trail experiences with others and it performs better than expected. One touch on/off and one touch record on/off makes it easy to activate while riding. I recommend installing a high speed SD card as this improves quality and helps eliminate “wave”. Downloading to my computer is a snap and is compatible with standard editing applications.

One slight drawback is the small size of the icons on the menu/program screen. I had to use a magnifying glass to see them. My bi-focals didn’t help.

Keep in mind that this is not a “high Quality” video camera that you would use for family memories or travelogues but if you don’t want to subject your $600-$800 digital camera to the rough ride of an ATV or any other dirty, dusty, jaw jarring activity, it’s the one to get.

Great for Paintball!

Created: 28/06/09
I recently bought this product after seeing the videos of our field that another player took. Upon receiving I scanned through the owners manual, put the batteries in, and fired it up. I mounted it to the barrel on my paintball marker with one of the provided clamps and used it the following weekend at a local field. Wow! watching the videos afterwards with friends was great! The quality of the picture was excellent, the sound was good, and of course the action was superb! (sorry, had to throw that in) It is very easy to operate, one button to turn on, one to start and stop recording, and one to toggle through functions. The optics are good for the price, it isn't the best late evening though, videos get harder to see. Overall, I would reccomend one to anyone who wants a low price, easy to operate, video camera system. It's definatly fun watching you and your friends battling it out on the paintball field!
