Presents complete formulas and instructions for dozens of natural, homemade, and effective beauty products that use safe ingredients to pamper the body, including a wide range of shampoos and conditioners, lotions, toners, ayurvedic oils, shaving cream, nail treatments, herbal salves, and more. Original.

Radiantly healthy skin, hair, feet, hands, eyes, and nails. Commercial beauty products make this promise every day and live up to it with varying degrees of success. Stephanie Tourles offers a better solution to everyone frustrated with the endless cycle of expensive, synthetic, famous-name cosmetics that often fall short of expectations. Take control of beauty treatments with homemade products that use safe, nourishing ingredients to pamper the body and soothe the senses.

Tourles, a licensed esthetician, herbalist, and aromatherapist, has developed 175 recipes that are fun, simple, and immensely satisfying to make in home kitchens. Her natural beauty treatments deliver the results promised by department store brands — skin, hair, and nails that glow with vitality and inner wellness. Lotions, scrubs, toners, balms, and masks polish and balance the skin, soothe current problems, and prevent future ones. Shampoos, rinses, and conditioners tone the scalp, boost highlights, and leave hair soft and shiny. The book's whole-body coverage also includes recipes for hand and footcare, nail treatments, shaving cream, and even popular spa treatments such as microdermabrasion exfoliants, detox and cellulite soaks, ayurvedic oils, and herbal cold salves. Most important, there is never any doubt about the purity of these ingredients!

Each formula is clearly presented in recipe style, with notes on prep time, storage, and uses. Many products can be customized according to personal needs, whim, or mood, and they all use readily available, natural ingredients. Organic Body Care Recipes is a natural treasure for every body.

Recipes for a Better You

Created: 18/10/07
Making homemade herbal formulas isn't that hard and so much safer and better for your skin, which, by the way, reflects what is going on inside of us! Glowing skin means we are happy, lackluster skin means we are feeling depressed or low. There are a lot of choices in this book for making herbal remedies, for your skin and hair. Advertisers try to make us spend $1000 of dollars a year on products for our skin & hair, but most products are full of names we can't even pronounce. With "Organic Body Care Recipes" you know what you are applying to your skin and hair. You'll be using natural ingredients that will correct the imbalances. Most items you can find right in your kitchen or local health food store. If you have skin sensitivities, then this is the way to go. Quit spending a fortune for designer products when you can be designing your own for your personal needs and health.

Luscious natural recipes to pamper yourself

Created: 10/06/07
Take charge of what goes on your skin, and ultimately in your body. Your body will thank you for using natural ingredients. I have several other books written by Ms. Tourles and this, her latest, is filled with simple recipes that require easy to find ingredients that don't cost an arm and a leg. You can make enough facial moisturer to equal 4 bottles of anything you'd buy off a shelf.

An apothecary ingredient dictionary describes uses and benefits of natural beauty products. Recipes include everything from an herbal soapy skin wash to a pineapple sunflower scrub to a baby's bottom cream to the avocado and buttermilk mask (which I tried and love!), sore muscle soak and on and on.

Great book!

Back to basics body care...

Created: 16/04/10
I bought this book hoping to find great make at home body essentials (lotion, soap, washes, etc) from your basic grocery store items. But it's more in depth than that. Don't get me wrong there are a few (very few) recipes that you may have the ingredients already in your kitchen such as sugar scrubs with honey or an avacado mask. But most require essential oils, or wheat germ or some other items you would have to purchase from your local health food/supplement store that you couldn't just pick up from your everyday grocery store. It's a good book if you want to get away from chemicals & preservatives, but you will have some costs to go along with that to get started. Most of these recipes (especially masks) are good for 1 use which is the amount the recipe will make because since they do not contain perservatives they can't just sit around as they would mold, etc. The recipes I have made have been pretty good & I have gotten good results with cleansers & masks. I've had about 2 or 3 where the smell or look just really turned me off, but most are very pleasent to smell. I think it's a good book overall if you are wanting to go a natural route, but don't count on finding these items in your kitchen already or even at your local grocery store.

Perfect Natural BodyCare!

After seeing this book at a store I purchased it through ebay at a fraction of the cost. It is a wonderful resource for natural body care. The chemicals that we put in our bodies on a daily basis are doing more harm than good, and I want to treat myself to the best. This book shows how to do just that. Easy mixtures that you can create right at home are presented here in a fun manner. Learn about everything from skin care, to natural hair care, feminine products, and MORE! If you get really good at these recipes you could even start your own business. Organic Body Care Recipes is a must have for anyone looking for natural ways to better themselves.
