Blues, gospel, and pop, along with both Nashville countrypolitan and the outlaw country that Colter is usually associated with--they all crop up here, and the ragged, booming production by Don Was gives the album a vital, energetic feel. Everything from the bluesy groove of "You Can Pick 'Em" to the duet between Colter and her late husband Waylon Jennings on "Out of the Rain" to the slinky take on Dylan's "Rainy Day Woman #12 & 35" is marvelous, and it all strongly suggests that Colter is on the cusp of getting the long overdue recognition she deserves.

Out of the Ashes

Created: 11/09/10
Dynamite CD by Jessi Colter. She has a beautiful voice and I love Waylon Jennings and Shooter Jennings. Waylon sings on "Out of the Rain" and Shooter on "Please Carry Me Home". I enjoy listening to every song on the CD. I liked the CD so much that I purchased another copy of "Out of the Ashes" to give to a friend. I would recommend this CD to anyone who appreciates Jessi Colter, Waylon and Shooter's music.

Great title-memory of Waylon

Created: 07/10/06
It is a shame that it took the death of Waylon Jenning to resurrect the career of one of the greatest female treasures in country music.
Too bad that all her other material is languishing on wax, and she had placed a great career on the shelf for the late and great Waylon Jennings.
If Jessi ever tries to release her former albums on cd format, many other people would become aware of thiis great talent.
If there is to be any great comparison who Jessi is like, I would have to say Emmylou Harris.
Hope that

Out of the Ashes - Jessi Colter

Jessi has a unique voice and I always enjoy her music. This album is worth buying, some nice songs with Waylon and Shooter Jennings. "His Eye Is On The Sparrow" is worth the whole price of the album, in my opinion.

The album is a great album. I decided to buy it for my dad for Christmas and he loved it. It sounded great and was what he wanted. Plus, the price was right.
