    Publisher's Note
A publishing phenomenon--the subject of enormous media attention, lavish acclaim from reviewers, and extraordinary sales--this national bestseller explains why, contrary to all expectations, Americans are working harder than ever. Schor shows how labor supply, unemployment, and the addictive nature of consumption lead to longer and longer hours, and what we can do about it.

The national bestseller (seven weeks on the New York Timeslist) that explains why, contrary to all expectations, Americans are working harder than ever.

Have We Not Made Any Progress?

    Created: 05/01/08
For any thinking person who would prefer to spend more time living and less time working you should give this book a looksee. THE BAD NEWS is that 15 years later (this book was published in 1993!) we are working even harder and longer with less leisure time than when this book was published and log many hours more per week than our friends in other countries. Come on America, lets work SMARTER, not HARDER!
