Movie synopsis

Take a peek at life inside jail through the narrative of Oz - The Complete Sixth Season (Three-Disc Set). This 2006 Oz DVD is set in Emerald City, the Oswald Maximum Security Correctional Facility: Level Four, which is controlled and looked over by Tim McManus and Warden Leo Glynn. The inmates of the facility consist of a variety of people including drug traders, gamblers, and gays, and this crime television series shows them trying to get power, make it through to parole, or just survive to see dawn. This 2006 Oz DVD features eight episodes in a set of three discs including ‘Dead Man Talking’, ‘4Giveness’, and ‘Junkyard Dawgs’ to name a few. The narrative thread is in the hands of Augustus Hill (an inmate) who adds life, context, and theme to this crime television series. Oz fans can rejoice. OZ THE SIXTH SEASON

Created: 24/08/06
Before the sixth season of HBO's Oz began, many knew that this would be the last hurrah from creator Tom Fontana and co., as the volitale men behind bars drama comes to an ever dramatic close in it's final eight episodes. Everything that has been built up since the show's debut reaches critical mass in this final season, as characters who have been here since the beginning meet their demise and the light at the end of the tunnel keeps dwindling. For Tobias Beecher (Lee Tergesen), freedom is so close he can taste it; but not if his sociopathic lover Chris Keller (Christopher Meloni) has anything to say about it. These two men, whose bizarre, savage, and heartbreaking love affair have been a highlight of the series since the middle of the second season, have always helped make Oz worth watching, and when the end comes, it comes without warning, just as long time viewers would come to expect. Beecher also has to contend again with nazi leader Vern Shillinger (J.K. Simmons) who wants his blood, while other prisoners (and long time characters) Miguel Alvarez (Kirk Acevedo), Kareem Said (Eamonn Walker), Ryan and Cyril O'Reilly (Dean and Scott William Winters), narrator Augustus Hill (Harold Perrineau), Reabadow (George Morfogen), Robeson (R.E. Rodgers), and Jaz Hoyt (Evan Seinfeld) all have their dates with destiny as well. Even prisoner reformer Tim McManus (Terry Kinney), warden Leo Glynn (Ernie Hudson), and Father Mukada (B.D. Wong) don't remain untouched by the series of events that brings the series to an end that at first may seem unlikely, but in the long run of things, couldn't have been any more fitting. For it's entire run, Oz was one of the best and underrated shows in HBO's history that never really got it's share of the limelight while mega hits like the Sopranos and Six Feet Under took all the glory. The blood drenched yellow brick road comes to an end here, and yes, there's nothing left but a dead end.

Oz the Sixth Season

Created: 08/12/06
The sixth season of OZ does not disappoint with its realism and shocking twists and turns of life behind bars. The writers have not lost their edge for great dialog, realistic interaction and gripping story lines. The commentary and presentation of the narrative is always thought provoking and unique in its presentation. Only disappointment is that this is the last season. Many of the actors that appeared in OZ have gone on to play prime roles in other TV shows. I even saw two of the minor characters in an episode of this seasons "24" just the other night. Other actors OZ have appeared in "CSI" and have reoccurring roles in "Law and Order".

Some viewers of only the sixth season will be left a little behind in some of the sub-plots that have occurred in previous seasons, but each episode is riveting and thought provoking into the interaction behind prison life and stand alone on their own merit.

I have watched all the previous seasons of OZ and always look forward to seeing a new episode. Even friends that have come in on only season six have enjoyed the viewing.

Not recommended for those under 17 years old, but anyone seeing this would think twice about committing a crime to go to "OZ".

This is a great series. I have the complete set. It shows the realities of prison life. It also explores the emotional and psychological makeup of the characters of which it focuses. It is a wonderful depiction of human drama and the human condition.

The ending of a series is always hard for a fan to understand why they would end a series in such a way. It almost always inherently leaves a viewer asking questions. However, With this final chapter of the pivotal story line of the inner workings of prison life and corruption was brought to a dramatic conclusion without the normal "What? that was it, What happens now? conclusion." An excellent ending to a great series leaving no guess work for the pivotal characters of the series.
A must see!!
